@epoch1970 it works now.
I used the network 192.168.0.0/24 instead of ipv4ll addresses and I put a default to ACCEPT everywhere. (sudo iptables -P INPUT ACCEPT, sudo iptables -P FORWARD ACCEPT).

Answering to the questions you made: - yes I can ping the laptop from the Pi - I did not know that ipv4ll cannot be routed, but see below I tried with another network.
