Re: Anybody interested in talking direct! to IDE/SATA?

After some problems, I have been able to compile the original source code from Gert on my 3B+. First of all, I have found an issue in the original code which prevents it to run on the 3B+ #define BCM2708_PERI_BASE 0x20000000 must be replaced by #define BCM2708_PERI_BASE 0x3F000000 to work on the 3B+...

Re: High bandwidth interface to FPGA?

@BEB Why was it challenging to use the SMI interface? Dave Hi Dave, it is challenging simply because there is simply *no* exact datasheet available. If you look into the RPi driver's source code, there are plenty of constants coming from nowhere to adjust SMI parameters The best code I have seen fo...

Re: High bandwidth interface to FPGA?

I think BCM2835 can access GPIO at about 40MHz and the 3's at 60MHz. Pi4's are faster again? If you use a 16bit wide bus then 80MB/s would be more realistic? It is hard to switch cmos 3V3 logic faster than 100-200MHz. That's why LVDS is "low voltage" and DDRAMs have lower voltage I/O etc. I have st...

Re: Anybody interested in talking direct! to IDE/SATA?

For those still interested in this project, I have started to work on a backplane bus concept for the Raspberry Pi (called RasPiBus or RPB in short). The RPB allows up to four expansion boards to be connected on the GPIO using a high bandwidth parallel bus (with an I/O addressing range of 256 bytes)...

Re: High bandwidth interface to FPGA?

can anyone provide SMI (secondary mamory interface) hardware specification? The problem is not to have access to the hardware specification. The SMI bus is nothing else than 68xx/808x style interface and there are plenty of references available everywhere on the web giving the description of the si...

Re: CM3 and LAN9514 is working but very hot

First question : is there anything connected to the USB and Ethernet port ? If yes, please describe what is connected, so we can have a better picture of your configuration Second question : what do you call "hot" ? Is it so hot that you can't keep a finger over it ? Third question : are you sure yo...
