Re: Random Crashing with no Discernable Reason

Yes, update and upgrade. Make sure code is backed up.

Code: Select all

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade -y
If your running the desktop you can add a temperature panel to the task bar.

Or from a command line:

Code: Select all

vcgencmd measure_temp

Re: Can't light led

As @pcmanbob suggested post a photo of your wiring.

Are you sure the red led and resistor is connected between GPIO17 and ground?

What tutorial are you following?

Re: Random Crashing with no Discernable Reason

Doesn't sound like your program then. Do you have any loose connections? What temperature is your Pi reaching? What happens when it crashes?

Are you running the latest Raspbian Buster fully updated?

Re: Python script intermittently hangs and does not exit

That is not how I suggested writing the code. I am suggesting having 1 Python program that runs continuously and never exits.

I would try Python first. I've not had any speed issues - its coped with everything I've used it for.

Re: Maximum number of motor controllers

Do you need to control 4 motors individually? Why can't you use 1 L298N board connected to 2 left motors (wired in parallel) and 2 right motors (wired in parallel)?

Re: Power Issues w/ 6 AA Batteries through Buck Converter Powering the Pi3B+

6xAA (Eneloop Pro) powering 4 motors and a buck converter to the Pi with GPS works fine for me.

I do use reasonably thick wires with soldered connections.

Re: omxplayer: I want to flicker video on and off for a Halloween affect. how?

I would write some Python and use the omxplayer-wrapper to randomly hide or show the video. import time, pygame, random from omxplayer.player import OMXPlayer def playerExit(code): global videoPlaying videoPlaying=False pygame.init() displayInfo = pygame.display.Info() displayWidth = displayInfo.curre...

Re: Python script intermittently hangs and does not exit

This all seems rather complicated. I would create 1 Python program that runs constantly checking all sensors. Don't use sleep to wait for the next sensor check - compare datetime values. This is how my water monitor works - checking 5 temperature sensors and a ultrasonic distance sensor then using M...
