Re: Farnell sells RPi4s with LPDDR4-2400?

This appears to be a typo on the Farnell website, 3200 is the correct speed. I've forwarded this to marketing/sales to get fixed. All Pi4's (Farnell, RS) come off the same production line (used by Farnell or RS with their own supply chain), and should be identical. Different memory speed needs diff...

Re: Farnell sells RPi4s with LPDDR4-2400?

It's 2.4 Gtransfers per second vs 3.2 Gtransfers per second, so slower(cooler?) vs faster(hotter?).

And I don't know if this difference actually exists or not (thus the thread).

Farnell sells RPi4s with LPDDR4-2400?

So farnell specifies the LPDDR4 RAM to be 2400 https://se.farnell.com/raspberry-pi/rpi4-modbp-4gb/raspberry-pi-4-model-b-4gb/dp/3051887 "4GB LPDDR4-2400 SDRAM" RPis homepage specifies it as LPDDR4-3200, not LPDDR4-2400: https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/raspberry-pi-4-model-b/specifications/ "1GB...

Re: Documentation for VC6

Isn't the point of a GPU the handling of the 3D? Would there not be a performance penalty by handling 3D on the CPU (Arm)? This sort of defies the assumed logic of the GPU. Is this decision based on a limitation of the SOC or was this by design in the architecture? I think that refers to the VideoC...

Re: Documentation for VC6

We are not developing the GPU 3D in any way for Pi4 , there is now ONLY the Mesa driver, which is under constant development (along with MESA/DRM/KMS themselves). The camera, H264 etc codecs still require the GPU blob. H265 is Linux side only so nothing to do with the GPU. Ok. So by "not developing...

had something similar with notification sounds when I connected Bluetooth devices with audio capabilities. the notification sounds where maxed out and I barely could hear them. what helped was clearing my cache and "forgetting" + reconnecting the devices. That is a good thing to know. As an aside I...

Having a big antenna is nice for listening, if nothing else. And being able to connect an external antenna without using any ports has its uses (putting the pi in a full metal can while using the IO for other things). That said, mine just sits open on the desk, and I have absolutely no need to recie...

Re: Interference and no HDMI output?

Something like a soldering iron is going to probably overwhelm a standard non-surge protected extension cable and shut off all the other devices connected to it. I've had my vaccuum cleaner shut off my TV from drawing too much power from the same circuit. Maybe that's it but: The monitor LED stays ...

This is a great example of WebGL performance on Pi4. Pretty impressive.

Welcome to the forum! But for the next time, please: - Write a complete desription of your problem. Nowhere do you mention what you are using, what hardware it's on, the OS and so on? Are you running Retropie? - Use a search engine first, this was the first result that came up for literally Googling...

An anecdote: Mine sits in the RPi box it came in, with the top lid and long side opened. I haven't seen any issues at all since applying the USB firmware update. The room is perhaps 20-25C depending on the time of day. And then it was when running complies in the background while browsing and listen...

RPi has become a large echosystem, with lots of people that are interested in it, so certain venues want to cash in by making brashly worded clickbait headlines. (See: Apple / Nintendo / Sony is doomed, claims guy, with the hottest of takes)

Edit: Dammit plugwash...

Re: Add Analog to Digital pins to the pi

You *can* have analogue circuitry on 40nm LP - it's just not a purpose-designed process so everything has to be a) CMOS b) sub-optimally sized. As a pure curiosity, and not a suggestion on what to add into future things, you can have ADCs on 16nm CMOS, with quite bizarre performance to boot. https:...

That got me curious for what kind of caps one would need to buffer it, so I measured it with my Rigol scope, and it goes dark for just shy of 60ms.

Power consumption is about 3x what the raspberry pi 3B's is right? (~2.5watts vs 7.5watts) Why do we assume the die size is the same? Fortunately (or not, I suppose), the power figures hasn't changed that much from the Pi 3B+. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/raspberry-pi-4-b,6193.html And, the...

@jamesh Thanks! Each QPU has 2 ALUs, so Raspberry Pi 3's 12 QPU graphics processor actually has 24 ALU x 2 x 0.4GHz = 19.2GFLOPs, with a clock of 0.5GHz, you get the advertised 24GFLOPs. About the number of QPUs reported for Videocore 6, there is only 8 QPUs per register, with the Raspberry Pi 3, yo...

It's clearly designed for operating on 8bit color, I'm not sure how useful they will be for machine learning. Isn't that usually done with 8bit floats? Why thank you for your lovely expose! "Instructions for packed 8 bit int math has been dropped, along with most of the pack modes."

Speaking from a point of ignorance, does it seem like all of the 8bit int modes are gone? (Not knowing which ones were there in the first place, but being mildly curious due to ML)
