Re: Pi 3 B + very slow

Last thing to add. I just test usb booting and it works normally. Do I need to manually set the SD card controller speed? Is there anyway of checking the speed it's running at?

Re: Pi 3 B + very slow

So randomly my Pi seems to have started to breakdown. ... trying to run rpi-update on this pi ... Excellent recipe, carry on. Rpi-update pulls development versions of the kernel and firmware. Development = not ready for public release. Do not use rpi-update, or don't be surprised when your machine ...

The Act LED is always on indicating a problem with either the SD card or the controller. since i've tested known working cards is there a way i can test ...

Issues with 4K output

Hi, Ive noticed that when i enable 4k output in raspi-config my TV seems to refuse to show an image. Infact it doesnt even detect the input. I'm using a Sony Bravia KD-55XE8596. Ive enabled 4k on my TV and other devices work fine so its not the TV. I know there is a issue currently with specific vid...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 Thread - general discussion

TBH, most entry level machines would struggle with HEVC 4k decode, which we do have in HW, along with 1080p60 H264 decode in HW, so not sure why you think there isn't any HW decode. We have removed the MPEG2 and VC1 HW codecs as they can easily be rendered in SW. Not sure why people are having perf...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 Thread - general discussion

What part of desktop performance? Of course, the CPU's are going to be busier, so there are less CPU cycles to run 'the desktop', but on the whole, a desktop is mostly idle anyway. Let me clarify :) I own three boards and have use cases that don't involve using them as a desktop replacement. Althou...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 Thread - general discussion

So, not sure if this is a mistake or not. But looking at the manual for the Pi 4 i received today, it shows a 8GB ram variant??? Is this TRUE?? Yup, typo. We haven't released an 8GB version! It's 1,2, or 4. We've found that 1 is best for headless, 2 for desktop (even lots of Chromium tabs) ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 Thread - general discussion

Just to check. How would I go about enabling usb boot? I've had a googling session as well as looking through this thread but not seen anything. Is this something that is to be implemented or do I follow the same rules as for the 3b &b+ ?
