Re: Python output of ssh command vs local command

I've taken this concept a bit further to merge some old 2004 LCD scripting I had in to produce a all in one to detect if mpd is playing either music tracks or radio streams if anyone wants to pick it up. This ones locally coded, no SSH calls. #!/usr/bin/env python3 import time import os import subpr...

Python output of ssh command vs local command

I have a python script which runs on a Zero W which monitors my Pi4 remotely in another room and outputs on a i2c ssd1306 128 x 32 : import time import subprocess from board import SCL, SDA import busio from PIL import Image, ImageDraw, ImageFont import adafruit_ssd1306 # Create the I2C interface. i...

You have therefore definitively answered it.

Re: From where should i download raspbian stretch with desktop and raspbian stretch with desktop and recommended softwar

The current release is Buster. Why are you specifically looking for Stretch? (Every new major release *will* work on all older Pis. The newest models always require the--at the time--latest release. Thus, Buster will run just fine on a Pi3B+ but a Pi4B can only run Buster.) There’s always a wider a...

Re: Pi4 Cooling

I'm going to try overclocking mine and running some stress tests. I do have a fan on mine, but it is on the case rather than right up to the cpu, so I'll see how it performs. Sounds like this shim fan would work well in overclocking situations. It doesn't need much airflow of the board to cool it q...

Re: Pi4 Cooling

Im also using a Noctua 40mm x 10mm modded into the official POE HAT with some space above to let air in and going down onto a Pimoroni heatsink. All temperature controlled and kicks in at 50 degrees and keeps it there abouts. No discredit to the genuine fan for the POE, but its not as quiet as the N...

Re: From where should i download raspbian stretch with desktop and raspbian stretch with desktop and recommended softwar

I believe you are looking for an older download version of Stretch rather than the smart arse answer : http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian/images/ This gives all previous versions released if you don’t want buster at the moment.it doesn’t however give an option including recommended software a...

Re: Pi4 vs Pi3 Audio Performance

What audio driver drivs the DAC? PulseAudio? Maybe there is resampling/mixing/processing in the background until the audio stream reaches the DAC. Have you tried JACK? I am not sure what you are asking. There is clearly a difference between Volumio and Raspian. I don't know what that difference is....

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 usb boot?

I’m just utterly disgusted by the poor level of trolling on our part since this and pxe boot should have been enabled before I got my 4B. In fact I’m talking to the point that whilst Royal Mail had it in their post system on its way from the wonderful Pimoroni to me it was resizing the rootfs partit...

Pi4 audio

I'm using an IQAudio DAC Plus in the main, but I have used the headphone socket on the Pi4 and it seems a bit better than the audio that went before it from the onboard headphone jack. Intrigued I thought I'd run a test ...... I came acrosss a script some time ago that shows the capabilities of soun...

Re: IQAudIO DacPlus Buster Pi 4

Correct PWM is on 18 and the Spikes the fan shim strobes with are the crackles 5122 on i2s delivers. Probed that with scope this morning. I’ve now wired a straight 5v fan in and perfect audio is back, and although that little fan is giving it 24/7 it’s quiet enough and 58 degrees under load with ove...

Re: IQAudIO DacPlus Buster Pi 4

Turns out the Pimoroni Fan Shim was my problem. It causes interference on BCM 18 - the i2s pin. Crazy that it’s gonna kill every audio card there is ! New SD card up and running with audio but as soon as I start compiling anything the temps are over 80 and the thermometer appears on screen. Need a t...

Yes and just had a response. A few minutes ago they seem confident I have a config issue, but I setup audio hats a lot and can’t see any steps I’ve boobed on.

As I’ve just said to the person from IQ I’m going to flash another SD and start bottom up again.

IQAudIO DacPlus Buster Pi 4

Hi there, Got my pi4 yesterday and started with a full Raspbian install this morning. Put my iqaudio dac plus on there and did the norm of disabling onboard audio and adding the reference to the dac plus board in config.txt. Board seems to be recognised as physically there but no sound output. No er...

Re: VNC black X cursor

Just looking through this as I’ve just got this to fix a black cross situation (!!) on a virtual vnc instance of Stretch.

Make sure you make the .custom file executable :

Code: Select all

sudo chmod ugo+x /etc/vnc/xstartup.custom
