The Raspberry Pi is a digital device, it has no analog inputs or outputs. You'll need an "ADC" - Analogue to Digital Converter, if you plan to use non digital accessories and modules with it. You could possibly use PWM to replicate analog control .. that's what I'm working on at the moment .. using...

BBC Bitesize has excellent resources for all GCSE subjects .. DT has electronics c/w tests etc.
