Re: Please Help, Locked Out

To start, I would like to mention that I am new, really new, like days old. Anyways, I accidentally logged out of my raspberry pi. Now it has taken me to bash. It just says raspberrypi login: pi (automatic login) it also says Raspbian GNU/Linux 10 raspberrypi tty1 at the top. I have tried logging i...

Re: apt-get upgrade raspberrypi-kernel -> rpi-update ritual

I'm using several Raspberry Pis since years and I had to develop what I'm calling "apt-get upgrade raspberrypi-kernel -> rpi-update ritual" over the years, as the pattern doesn't change and occurs yearly 2-3 times, today with raspberrypi-kernel:armhf (1.20190925+1-1, 1.20200114-1) on both a 3B and ...

I echo james' suggestion of Code The Classics (I did an overview of the book here: https://geektechstuff.com/2020/01/01/co ... ew-python/), but would also suggest Wireframe magazine (they have monthly Python coding bits).

Re: ValueError: Could not find a format to read the specified file in mode 'i'

I might be wrong, but it looks like your program is trying to read a file type that it cannot handle. The link you provided is using a try/except to work around this, with something similar to the below: for d in directories: try: label_directory = os.path.join(data_directory,d) file_names = [os.pat...

The name/brand power of Minecraft is still very strong (over a 100 million monthly players according to https://www.engadget.com/2019/09/15/minecraft-112-million-monthly-players/), so using it in coding examples/tutorials will probably still draw in people that enjoy Minecraft on other platforms and...

Re: How can i access my raspberry pi at home from anywhere in the most secure way?

Make sure you change the default Pi password and set up a firewall on the Pi ( https://geektechstuff.com/2019/06/22/in ... pberry-pi/ ) if you are allowing direct web traffic to it.

Re: SSH, SFTP and VNC all not working after changing to a USB wifi dongle

The Wi-Fi dongle will have a different MAC address to the Pi's Wi-Fi MAC address so if your home router is doing DHCP it will assign it a different IP address. If you have set up reservations on the router (which may be looking for the MAC of the Pi not the Wi-Fi dongle) and a static address on the ...

Re: NameError: name 'data_writer' is not defined sensehat datalogger

I think your issue is that data_writer is being defined in the function get_sense_data but being used outside of the function. This may work: from sense_hat import SenseHat from datetime import datetime from csv import writer sense = SenseHat() hum = sense.get_humidity() temp = sense.get_temperature...

Hi all, pretty new to the pi and no real experience with Linux. I did some searching and looks like it has something...

Your code is calling on ws here but it is not defined anywhere. Is it needed? Try WS2811_STRIP_GRB instead of ws.WS2811_STRIP_GRB.

Hi guys! I'm posting camera images to my server from RPI 3 B+. I noticed that importing requests takes around 20 seconds. Which in my case is problematic (running cron job every 30seconds). For example this script takes around 20-30seconds to finish: import requests print("imported") # will be exec...
