Re: Small 4k display?

Why would anyone need a 7 inch 4k monitor? At that size, the individual pixels will be so infinitesimally small and densely packed, it'd be impossible to distinguish them from a 1080 screen... I’ve never seen one that small, but my 65 inch is stunning in 4K. I don’t know, maybe you’re right, and th...

Re: Small 4k display?

How small is small? have a look at http://www.panelook.com/resmodlist.php?st=&pl=&resolutions[]=8720&production_state=1&st=E2&by=desc to get an idea of what's available in the market (might not be the full list). So, what is your understanding of 'display'? There are tons of TFT...

Small 4k display?

The new Pi 4 does 4k video, so is there or will there be any small 4k displays available?

Re: No driver for Pi DAC PRO for Pi 3

Wouldn’t the simplest solution be to buy another Pi? They’re only $35. I made a dedicated music player with a Pi Zero W, a DAC hat and headphone amp daughter board. It cost me less than a Pi 3B+

Re: Large partition sizes, Raspbian and Windows

FYI, I got this working on the Pi Zero W running PiCore player with a 512gb SD Micro card. The sound is VERY good, just what I’d hoped for with 10 year newer technology.

Re: What is the small partition visible to Windows?

Basically if your root partition fills your machine stops. FAT is also not as good for fragmentation handling as EXT format drives. If you need to write to the Pi SD card it’s a simple job to set up SAMBA on the Pi or add EXT drivers to a PC or Mac and use the main SD / disk space. Good idea about ...

Re: Large partition sizes, Raspbian and Windows

PiCoreplayer uses PiCore the Pi version of TinyCore Linux. https://www.picoreplayer.org/ I have also use PiCore for years, the default partition sizes need modifiying to add an other stuff. For that I use a Linux box and Gparted after the image has been burned. I increase the boot partition a littl...

Re: What is the small partition visible to Windows?

To resize a partition you need to make room for it. In other words, you must shrink adjacent partitions to create some free space, then expand the desired partition into that free space. You may also need to install additional file systems to deal with Windows partitions (sudo apt install exfat-fus...

Re: What is the small partition visible to Windows?

Oh, I will take your advice and not use the /boot directory. I just need to resolve the issue of resizing the ext partition to NTFS for Windows use. I'll look it up.

Re: Large partition sizes, Raspbian and Windows

The OP should actually install Raspbian (with etcher) on the 512GB card and see. (Lets hope the 512GB card is not a fake) I've been doing tests on smaller cards (16 or 64gb) with some sample music to see what works before I use the 512gb card. I read reviews on Amazon of the various large SD cards ...

Re: What is the small partition visible to Windows?

Sigh I am obviously irritating everyone here. I'll stop asking questions. Asking questions is not the problem. Asking the same question multiple times in different ways and hoping for a different answer is. I apologize if I've misunderstood the situation, but this is how I perceive it. You asked ab...

Re: What is the small partition visible to Windows?

Sorry for the confusion. This thread was asking about the /boot partition. The other is where I've been discussing the other partitions, and included more project information and pictures. Some forums want you to strictly divide subjects. This one seems to want you to put everything together. Actua...

Re: What is the small partition visible to Windows?

This forum doesn't want you to ask the same question TWICE, you can now see what happens when you do that. Normally we quickly delete the copy, but unfortunately I wasn't aware of it before, and I cannot decide now which one is the copy, and which one is the original, as both are too long, and dive...

Re: Large partition sizes, Raspbian and Windows

Project update: I received the Waveshare 4.3 inch display, and a Lexar 512gb Micro SD card. I'm doing tests on smaller cards with Raspbian and Volumio. Raspbian seems to work nicely on the RPi Zero with Waveshare display. The touchscreen is a little bit off (your finger and where the cursor is ends ...

Re: What is the small partition visible to Windows?

I’m trying to understand Raspbian/Linux partitions. When looking at a Raspbian or Volumio Micro SD card in Windows, you only can see a portion of the contents of the card. The rest is not visible to Windows. So what is the small partition called that is available to Windows, and can it be used for ...

Re: What is the small partition visible to Windows?

Windows can't natively see most of the sdcard. The small bit that windows can see is used to boot raspbian. The rest of the sdcard is raspbian itself and uses a linux filesystem (ext4). Windows has a nasty habit of stomping over filesystems it doesn't recognise so for the time being just assume the...

Re: Large partition sizes, Raspbian and Windows

Mucking about with partitions seems unnecessarily complicated to me, since there are easy options available. I make backup images of all of my operating system SD cards once they are running well. I can just re-flash the card if things go south. There are 512GB cards now. The Samsung EVO Select is ...

Re: HDMI displays, HDMI connection and touch screen control

I took a closer look at a picture of the 4.3 inch HDMI display I’m considering, and noticed that it has a USB connection to a Pi computer. I’m assuming the touch data uses USB. HDMi does not carry the Touch Interface connection, that is undertaken via USB.. ..though reading the manual of this unkno...
