Re: Pi Zero W overheating and no Wifi?

Its hard to tell which part exactly is heating up, but I can tell you that since I've replaced the board with another one, I noticed a physical difference/defect. There's a little black box to the lower right of the GPIO pins, looks like there's some info printed on it (once said 4R7 I think?), dire...

Re: Pi Zero W overheating and no Wifi?

The whole thing feels hot- the chip feels pretty hot, but to be honest I'm not sure what it normally feels like because I've never touched it while on before. Seems like the side towards the right (furthest away from the card slot) is hot too, and maybe even the source of the heat. I'm guessing that...

Pi Zero W overheating and no Wifi?

About a month ago, I installed a Pi 0w as a digital sign computer attached to the back of a TV. All it does is display an HTML based schedule and information for a lobby. It has been working great until recently I was informed the sign went down. Now it just shows no internet connection found. I wen...

You could use guizero to create a simple GUI. You can link the button pressed to specific actions.

https://lawsie.github.io/guizero/
This actually looks perfect!
Looking into it now, trying to find any documentation on using it with terminal commands... This looks very promising, thank you!

Re: Video DJ Setup

Thanks! Interesting stuff. I think the small touch screen I have is perfect for this, so the hardware is good- I need to figure out the software. Someone suggested I start learning Python (new to me), but all I need is command lines that are triggered when something on screen is pressed. What's the ...

Video DJ Setup

I have a Pi 3 with a 3.5" TFT touchscreen that I'm considering using as a Video DJ device at events, hooked up to a projector system. Trying to figure out if this project makes sense before I get too involved in it. Basically, here's the concept: On the small touch display, a GUI with buttons will b...

Re: Want to write a small / simple program for project, where to start?

The magic 8 ball project? Interesting read, thanks for the tip! It is a good simple example if I wanted to learn how to write a program, but I feel like what I'm trying to do is very different. I want to execute terminal command lines based on a button in a gui being pressed. Its really more like a ...

Want to write a small / simple program for project, where to start?

I have a 3.5" TFT touchscreen on my pi 3 running raspbian Stretch. I'm imagining a project in which I present large touchable buttons on the display which when pressed can run a script/command in the background to automate certain things. It seems like a pretty simple and basic useful thing for the ...

I'm trying to do something similar, did you ever figure it out and can you share more details re: your setup?

Using tft display to control output of HDMI (DJ / presentation console use)

I see there has been some progress in multiple frame buffers so that we can now have dual screen setup with the Pi3 (super cool!). But I'm looking for something a little bit different- I don't want to extend my desktop or anything like that, but rather use a Pi 3b with a TFT screen attached as a pre...

Re: raspberry pi zero w as a bluetooth receiver?

I suppose. Powering and unpowering there's plenty of documentation on. Powering on would come from the ignition (there's actually already a USB port behind my dash for installing a hard drive for music media), and I'd look into one of those supercapicator/GPIO shutdown command when the power gets cu...

But would that explain why giving it any user input kicks the rest of the loading into gear?

Re: raspberry pi zero w as a bluetooth receiver?

I'm curious as to how this project panned out? I was just thinking it would be cool to use a Pi Zero W as a bluetooth receiver for handsfree calling over a stereo system in my car. I have an aftermarket BT stereo that I hate for calls, since the microphone is in the head unit I have to yell at the d...

Re: autostart script delay?

Ok, Just to follow up: I tried it again and left it alone as I walked away. I came back 10 min later, and the script had finished and loaded the web display via chromium in kiosk mode like I wanted. But it took somewhere close to 10 min for that to happen. If I plug in a mouse/kb and interact with i...

autostart script delay?

First ever pi project: turning a TV screen into a digital sign for a lobby. I have a Pi Zero W running with a command added to autostart to launch chromium in kiosk mode with the proper web URL desired. This seems to work fine, after waiting a bit for the slow Pi Zero hardware to load up chromium. H...

Re: Possible? : Dual Screen with touchscreen for input

OP, did you ever find a way to do this? I also set up a similar sounding AV system at events, where a laptop displays a looping animation with a a title on a projector / monitor, and when I get the cue, I fire up a video presentation to play on the screen. When it finishes, it goes back to the loopi...
