Re: New Website

Horrible. Javascript and media heavy. Totally broken on Luakit (lightweight webkit browser). Poor choice considering a lot of people will be accessing it on Pi's.

Raspbian. There isn't much choice really. What are your users running? How are they logging into the network with?

Re: Recommend a Pi alternative for a (usable) NAS?

For a usable NAS you need something with either SATA (real, not USB based) or USB 3.0. The only option currently for USB3.0 is the new XU board from hardkernel.com. For SATA you have some good options with Pogoplug or Seagate Home devices. I suggest looking at archlinuxarm.org for some ideas.

I have a HDHomerun. It's a network TV tuner which can stream to multiple devices on my LAN. I'll never go near a USB or card tuner again.

Does anyone know where mame keeps it's UI settings? During an eldster moment I changed the key for the TAB menu to Enter instead of Tab. Now I can't change it back since when I try it the Enter key closes the menu! Doh!

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

Has anyone managed to get this running under Advmenu? I've tried bogussing advmenu into thinking it's advmame but no luck. (wants to run an xml file update), and also tried running it as a generic emulator with no luck (all roms fail on file errors). If noone has this running is there a chance of ad...

Love2d isn't supported on the Pi as it required OpenGL. The Pi has OpenGLES. You can however use Lua though. It comes with Raspbian.

Any way to get a build without using the store? (I'm anti-store)

Bzzzzt! Just found it in git. I must say it runs amazing. Every game I have runs fulls speed so far. Awesome work.

Does this source a mame.ini like normal mame? Wondering how to setup dirs and keyboard etc.

Re: Mythtv Working (Packages Provided)

No, I just used the premade packages. I've fixed the time issue. Turns out the setup uses upnp to detect other backends on the network. It was trying to talk to my other backend database which is still 0.25. Only spotted it with one line in the console of it trying to resolve the IP of the other bac...

Re: Mythtv Working (Packages Provided)

Hi all, I've just made a fresh install of raspbian and installed the mythtv packages. No matter what I do I come up against the msql time zone error when I run mythtv-setup. I've proven the zoneinfo is in msql database but mythtv-setup refuses to accept it. Anyone else seen this? 2013-03-07 15:53:41...

Mame4all uses GLES at the backend doesn't it? Therefore you'll gain nothing by attempting to use DISPMANX with it.

Re: MAME audio - analogue vs hdmi

Update on this. The adafruit dongle is excellent. Basically it's a HDMI to VGA converter but unlike most that cost $50+ and need a powersupply it only costs about $20 and takes power from the Pi itself. I now have the same display as before but with the HDMI audio extraction to my analogue amplifier...

I'm sure AdvanceMenu (advmenu) can run generic emulators and meets all your requirements. I run it on my mamecab and it's fully configurable and usable with joysticks.
