Re: lighttpd and PHP fail to start

Normal behaviour. By default, the php short_open_tag <? is disabled. If you want to use it (but why would you?) you will have to activate that option in a .user.ini file that you will create at the root of your site. Don't forget to restart lighttpd after that. $ cat .user.ini error_reporting = E_AL...

Re: Conditional dns using dnsmasq with ad blocking

Did you try adding dnsmasq listen address as first dns server?

Code: Select all

dhcp-option=tag:red,option:dns-server,192.168.1.5,208.67.222.222,208.67.220.220  #OpenDNS servers

Not sure you need php5. My lighttpd runs flawlessly without it. $ dpkg -l | grep php ii php5-cgi 5.6.17+dfsg-0+deb8u1 armhf server-side, HTML-embedded scripting language (CGI binary) ii php5-cli 5.6.17+dfsg-0+deb8u1 armhf command-line interpreter for the php5 scripting language ii php5-common 5.6.17...

Re: Port Forwarding Issue

Glad you could make it work. Are you sure you want to use apache as webserver on the capable yet ressource limited Rpi? Maybe you could look into lightweight web servers like lighttpd or Nginx. Nothing wrong with apache but it's on the heavy side. http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Web_Server_Performance_Com...

Re: sudo nano /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf brings up empty file

Is isc-dhcp-server correctly installed?

Code: Select all

$ dpkg -l isc-dhcp-server
If properly installed, you should have a default /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf file which is the configuration file for the -isc-dhcp-server package.

What settings do you need to enter after boot?

Re: sudo nano /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf brings up empty file

If it is a router that you want to setup, may be you are after a dhcp *server* and not the dhcpcd *client* daemon. If that is the case, install either isc-dhcp-server or dnsmasq. For the first one, after installing it, you should have a default configuration in the /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf file.

Re: Local Web Interface via ethernet

No project to point you to but you can simply install dnsmasq that would act as a dhcp server and dns cache. Properly configured, any host connecting to the pi will receive a ip address from it as well as the dns server to point to (the pi itself). Look for any dnsmasq tutorial. Pretty easy to confi...

Re: DNS server issues

... it's wheezy as stated in the OP. The easiest way is to change your /etc/dhcp/dhclient.conf file and add your DNS servers there: supersede domain-name-servers 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4; Otherwise, if you prefer to do it in the interfaces file, you can add a hook in /etc/dhcp/dhclient-enter-hooks.d/. Re: Cannot connect to LAN

Jessie uses dhcpcd daemon to configure its interfaces.

What's the result of

Code: Select all

$ sudo systemctl status dhcpcd
Try also to request a new ip lease by doing:

Code: Select all

$ sudo dhcpcd -n
$ sudo dhcpcd -U
