Re: Help with getting to Noobs recovery

Had simialr issues, swapped my cheap 'n' cheerful octigen KB for a Dell USB KB, and it worked.

Hold SHIFT from power on, then 3 to force PAL video.

Thanks to all for your help!

Re: Trouble with video over 3.5mm jack with B+

Thanks for posting the links, I've been looking all over the place to see what worked! I'm knee deep in adaptors and component cables at the moment, but nothing I have seems to work. 4 pole 3.5mm pin adaptor looks like what I need.

startpar: service(s) returned failure networking...failed!

I'm getting the above message during startup, and my eth0 is not getting an IPaddress.

Not sure what I've done to cause this, I recently added a wlan0 card, but it had been working OK.

can't run ifup ifdown nor ifquery, returns "command not found"

Do I need to re-image the card again?

Re: Stuck after Setting up X socket directories

I've started seeing this too. Plugged in the new USB Wifi adapter I got from ThePiHut, and rebooted, but couldn't connect. I usually SSH to my Pi, so assumed the was an ip conflict or similar network issue. Disconneted wifi plug and ethernet cable, connected to my TV (component video) and rebooted. ...

There were 150 games listed in Issue 3 of the MagPi, I would start there.

This is great fun, I'm still in the tutorial, but I think this might be rather addictive!

Re: sending data over the web

If you're using a router to connect to your ISP, then the 192.168.1.x is the local address.
You can find your current external IP using whatismyip.com or similar. Or by logging onto your router and looking for the WAN address.

Thanks Dom, after a few calming breaths I counted the 6 flashes, googled it, and discovered the start.elf was corrupted. Panic over!

Have I killed my Pi?

Turbo enabled, 1GHz overclock. It ran fine for a while, (temps about 65C) until I rebooted, and it failed to restart. I get the Power LED, and OK flashes, but no progress beyond that...

i dont suppose someone could break that script down to me so I can actually make sense of what its actually doing? :D The time command measures how long it takes to complete the rest of the line. The echo command, combined with the Pipe, "|" feeds the line of BC script into the bc -l starts the bc ...

Are you powering the PI from the hub, or from its own power supply?

Me gusta!
