Re: Using printer on windows machine.

Adding a 'VNC' printer does this job - well most of the time. It does seem a bit variable though, for example on occasions I can print from Leaf, but not from Libre Office. Sadly there seems to be little documentation on how this works, but when it does work, the results are perfect.

I take my hat off, in that you have gone farther with this exercise than I have! I will follow the thread with interest.

Agreed - but sadly that does not help.

Re: Using printer on windows machine.

No secret! It is a Dell 1320C colour laser jobbie. I did not bother to mention that, as some time ago I did post a request for knowledge of any drivers suitable for it using the mighty Raspberry. I did find one which works for another linux variant which I use on a PC (dual boot), but zilch that wil...

Re: Using printer on windows machine.

No, I've done an exhausting search and these seems to be nothing available for this O.S. For the odd occasion where necessary I can of course just copy the file and then print, but being a bit of a perfectionist it would be nice to do the job properly!

Re: Using printer on windows machine.

Yes, Google print is worth a look. Seems a bit of a sledge hammer/nut relationship, but probably less of a pain than sharing the file to print, given that the kit lives in different locations! Thanks for the suggestion.

Using printer on windows machine.

I have a printer which is sadly not supported with any of the cups stuff, nor is there a linux driver for it. Given that my windows machine DOES have it's suitable driver, I was wondering if there is a sneaky way to share the windows printer such that it uses its own driver to do the actual printing?

Re: Postfix cant resolve hostnames after update

You should be OK by simply copying in /etc/resolv.conf to postfix. Make sure though that it does contain a couple of valid DNS name servers e.g. 8.8.8.8

Forgive my ignorance, but what is that HPPCL stuff? Incidentaly, the 1320 is not a postscript printer.

Trying to use DELL 1320C networked printer with Pi.

I was wondering if anyone had actually succeeded to get a DELL 1320C printer to work with Raspberian/CUPS? I thought I could dodge the issue by using a Windows machine as a print server, but still some local files are required... I'd reckon that the 1320C must be the most anonymous printer ever made...

Re: Help! Cannot Change size of Console Font!!

If you are talking about the lxterminal on the PI, The font can be changed from small to really huge by selecting the edit tab at the top, preferences/style/terminal font. This brings up a selector for a great range of sizes. The great thing is that the system remembers this setting even after reboo...

Re: STICKY: Introduce yourself!

G'day. Name is Les and allegedly retired. I do engineering work for an ordnance disposal company. They wanted a data logger for magnetometry work. Although new to the PI, it seemed to fit the bill and I was not disappointed! I am amazed at the facillities available (hardware & software.) As a former...
