Re: [UPDATE] Kodi 18.4 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

Hi guys, As dumb as it may sound, I am currently recovering from a motorcycle accident. Awaiting surgery on my right hand on Thursday. Unfortunately, this means no access to my RPi 4 and having to type with my left hand. On the bright side of things, it looks like Rascas' kodi build now works ...

Re: [UPDATE] Kodi 18.4 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

First of all thanks for your work. Greatly appreciated. With the new build interlaced mpeg2 decoding (tvheadend) works. But I stll notice some heavy menu tearing (or graphics corruption) when navigating inside Kodi. Is there a way to fix this? @secred the only thing I can suggest is to run your GUI...

Re: [UPDATE] Kodi 18.4 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

(We're doing a bunch of simultaneous editing I think.) Yep. :D I don't think that would be too terrible actually. It's 0666 on my laptop (Arch Linux). I'll go ahead and do that as well. This way users installing it don't have to do anything. Edit: yes, it looks like this is something Debian did exp...

Re: [UPDATE] Kodi 18.4 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

Found relevant systemd commit: udev-rules: Permission changes for /dev/dri/renderD* Interestingly, this commit says: "Change default mode to 0666" . Which means any user should be able to access it. :( I am guessing Debian folks are to blame here. Maybe they had a reason for doing it that way, or it...

Re: [UPDATE] Kodi 18.4 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

Okay, so I think the following summarizes it: When you first log in via ssh and just run kodi from the terminal, it never works because ssh users don't have uaccess permission to the render device. Sometimes when you run kodi-rpi4 or the kodi-shell service, you'll win the hypothesized race conditio...

Re: [UPDATE] Kodi 18.4 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

I've seen kodi updates for RPi4... I really appreciate the effort and labor of love by @innocent_bystander. Thanks! will this be trickling down to RPi3B+ and (at most) RPi3B? (usable up to RPi1B asking too much? ;) ) or we'll just be stuck to Kodi 18.2 there.... (well at least its still working per...

Re: [UPDATE] Kodi 18.4 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

I just confirmed this to be the problem. @bscphil and @psyke83 you guys are geniuses for find this out. Basically, here is what happens. When I originally compiled Kodi, I was able to launch it from a terminal and it worked great. But when I tried using chvt or even wrote my own proggy to switch ter...

Re: Kodi 18.3 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

Same issue here. The default skin doesn't render correctly. The cpu usage does get better compared to the 18.3 Debug build. Found a bug in Kodi code (TexturePacker utility). They are using readdir() without setting _FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 , which may lead to EOVERFLOW (Value too large for defined data...

@innocent_bystander, thanks for building updated 18.4 deb and sharing the building script. Same issue here. The default skin doesn't render correctly. @Wired Life if it's not too much trouble, could you see what you get with the default theme? For me it renders with no cursors and dialog boxen. Trying to see if itsa wide-spread problem or just me.

New version works like a charm with nearly no cpu usage @ tv streaming from enigma2 receiver to kodi.
Thank you very much!

sadly the CPU load on idle is not really reduced - have still 30% had hope that its due to the debug build ... this build is a normal release build or isn't it? Yep, this is a release build. The original build from first post is closing when i open a mpeg2 tv stream.

Would you mind providing a link to a snippet? I don't have any MPEG-2 streams to test with.

My fellow Kodified Raspinauts of the 4th Dimension, I bring to you Debian package for Kodi 18.4 Leia: https://transfer.sh/X7gZH/kodi-rpi4_18.4.0-1_armhf.deb . Well, actually... Re: Kodi 18.3 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

The kodi-rpi4_18.3-5_armhf.deb in the original post seems to be a 'Debug' build. Would you please do a 'Release' build for this upcoming 18.4? Actually I'd like to (cross-) compile and build myself. Can you share your setup env and building steps? I tried to follow docs/README.* from the xbmc repo ...

first of all, huge thanks for Kodi, it finally works on my pi4. Re: Kodi 18.3 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

After starting Kodi, which attaches to tty8 from what I can tell, it's not possible to switch tty again until after Kodi has exited. Ctrl+Alt+<Number> or Alt+Left/Right just doesn't do anything. Any workarounds for this? It's supposed to switch back to your original tty. If it didn't, it probably f...
