Re: Wired connection...

I can't use a regular WIFI network because there is not always a WIFI network available where I live and sometimes just don't know the passcode/username to connect it if I am in a friends house and want to show it off. AND if I did know all the passcodes and usernames, I can't tell the Pi to connec...

Wired connection...

I would like to connect my 3B+ and/or Zero W to my laptop without a wireless connection and control it like you would SSH and VNC. Sometimes I want to show off my projects but can't connect to the network where I am without a monitor (big, bulky, non-portable). I see USB expansion boards that allows...

Re: Email pictures using Centurylink

My server does support IMAP but I thought that POP3 would be a little more simple just for now. I briefly looked at the article and it doesn't make sense what it all does. Like I said, can someone give me a sample code that retrieves all emails and acts upon special keywords in the subject/body and ...

Re: Email pictures using Centurylink

So now I want the Pi to react to a special command that I send to it via E-Mail in the body or subject. I have been reading this (https://docs.python.org/2/library/poplib.html) and have a very hazy idea but don't know how to put it all together. Could someone set me straight. I just want it to send ...

Re: Email pictures using Centurylink

You are getting the 'Tab/Space Error' because you code uses 4 spaces for indent in parts of it and a tab spaece in other parts , you need to go through the code and make it so it uses one or the other for indenting, as python will not allow indenting to be a mixture of tab spacing and 4 spaces inde...

Re: Email pictures using Centurylink

So I got it working to send emails using Centurylink, but now I want it to send a .jpg attachment too. I found this code that is very close to the code I use to send regular email and tried to run it: #!/usr/bin/env python import smtplib from email.MIMEMultipart import MIMEMultipart from email.MIMEB...

VLC steam mirror problem

I have been using VLC Media Player to steam video from my Pi to other computers on my network and so far it has worked, but with some inconveniences. Left and right are backwards / in a mirror. Any ideas how to fix it?

Re: SOLVED: Camera won't stream to FaceBook

It's working now. I just had to put the Stream URL and Stream key in " " marks. raspivid -o - -t 0 -vf -hf -fps 10 -b 500000 | ffmpeg -re -ar 44100 -ac 2 -acodec pcm_s16le -f s16le -ac 2 -i /dev/zero -f h264 -i - -vcodec copy -acodec aac -ab 128k -g 50 -strict experimental -f flv "stream url+stream ...

SOLVED: Camera won't stream to FaceBook

I want to make my camera stream to a FaceBook page using the API server and key system. I do most of my coding in IDLE and use the browser a lot and don't want to have to install them. Would I have to with Stretch with Desktop?

Re: Stretch vs Jesse

I would recommend the Stretch with Desktop. It is a much smaller download, (1.0 vs 1.8GB), than the full version as it does not have games and some large educational software packages. There is an included software utility that can be used to download and install the missing recommended packages la...

Stretch vs Jesse

I would like to setup another Pi for more projects but don't know what version of Raspbian I should download. I was going to get Jesse, but see that it's no longer available. My question is: how do Stretch Lite, Stretch with Desktop, and Stretch with desktop and recommended software differ, and how ...

FFmpeg alternative

I want to be able to stream from my RPi Camera to YouTube. I was going to use FFmpeg but can't get it to download and don't feel like going through the million steps to make it work. My question is: is there a FFmpeg alternative so I can stream to YouTube? And if so, how do I use them? Thanks.

Email pictures using Centurylink

Okay, so I have made a system that, when motion is detected in the candy cupboard, it takes a picture of the intruder. Now what I would like to do is make a script that sends the picture to my email with a subject and message. I have seen how to do it with G-Mail, but I can't seem to figure out how ...

Camera won't preview

I just got a camera for my Raspberry Pi 3 B+ today and have been having a lot of fun with it. However, when I use any sort of preview command and even before a picture is taken, no preview window appears. I'm not sure if this is because my camera is not a genuine Raspberry Pi brand, or if something ...

I am trying to make an alarm clock in IDLE 2. I think I have the basic framework, but the alarm never goes off.
