Re: Need VNC Help

Update Time Ok, problem solved. Turns out the "Port" option in all of the mobile device VNC client setups was my problem. I thought that this option had something to do with accessing a VNC server outside of your LAN through a router port, and therefore wouldn't affect me if I was inside my LAN, usi...

Need VNC Help [Solved]

I'm trying to use my old iPad 1 as my Raspberry Pi screen. For a while it was ok just using the SSH clients on the iPad to do basic stuff, but for some tasks for a command line noob like me, I just have to have a GUI. I installed a VNC server on my pi for use with my PC, works great, I even got it t...

Re: "Two-way" power dangerous?

This is only okay when you have a revision two board, with mounting holes, the older revision 1 board had polyfuses in between the PI and USB port which would prohibit backfeeding. But with the new revision 2 Board this way of powering the PI is allowed, as the PI only uses 500mA because it doesn't...

Re: rasp->TV trough hdmi switch

There might not be enough power coming out of your HDMI port for your HDMI switch to detect it. Try increasing the power by adding or uncommenting the line that says 'config_hdmi_boost=4'. If that does not work, try increasing that number (there is a range from 1 to 7).

Re: Connecting with ethernet - small problem

This is probably not the answer you're looking for, but you could run a cable through the ceiling. The only other reasonable option would be to invest in a wifi dongle.

Re: Pi only boots to logo

That's really weird. Maybe the SD card got corrupted somehow. I would just try reflashing the SD card the normal way. Other than that, I have no ideas. I guess I should ask, Is anything flashing or does the screen just freeze?

Re: Problem with Powered USB Hub. Please help!

The problem is that without the usb hub the HDMI TV connection works just fine. So, shouldnt be a problem with the usb hub? Because without the powered hub everything works perfect. Thats why its seems weird to me to be an issue with the hdmi connection... About the lead pushed fully home, 100% sur...

Re: New user looking for webserver help

i choose at the startup boot to automatically start the desktop ui... how can i reaccess to boot menu ? All you have to do to get to that command line is open up the LXTerminal application. This will take you to a command line just like the one on startup, just in GUI. If you want to turn boot to G...

Re: Wifi Out of the Box on Sep 17 2012 Raspbian

Ok, I have no answer to you Wifi problem, but I notice another problem. You say you power your pi with your USB hub. Do you have a Rev2 board, the one with the mounting holes? I'm a complete noob at this and I did this exact same thing to power my pi when I realized it worked, but supposedly its bad...

Re: Where to buy Rasberry Pi in 25$ as the description said?

This has been answered many times, maybe browse the forums for a few minutes before posting a question, you might be surprised at what you find. The Model B is $35, the Model A is $25, and the model A is not being manufactured or sold at this moment. There is no given date for when they will begin t...

I tried all of these just now, same results as before. I have no idea, maybe I'm just destined for low definition raspberry flavored tarts :P . Of course, any other suggestions are more than welcome, but for now I'm just going to give up on HDMI and start working over RCA so I can get to the fun stu...

The Pi doesn't do VGA. (on its own at least).
Sorry, whatever the yellow video cable is called, the only other video output on the pi. I always thought it was called VGA, maybe not.

HDMI Problems

So, as soon as I got my board I tried setting it up using HDMI and it didn't work. I immediately jumped to many conclusions, leaving out the factor of operator error. Of course it ended up being my fault :P as VGA works and HDMI works when I use my SD card loaded with RaspBMC, but I just can't get H...

Re: I Need Help With SD Card Setup!

I assume that you are assuming you have a problem because you see no onscreen messages? From your description it sounds as if the Pi may be booting fine, and your problem is getting it to recognise your video device. What are you using for this purpose? You may find the following thread to be usefu...

I Need Help With SD Card Setup!

I prepared an SD card, attempted to boot it up, the PWR light turned solid red, but the OK light just flashed in a completely rando...

Rev2 Board is released now, and will be shipped from Farnell. Means a contrario, the RS will deliver yet Revision 1 board? It is now time for (all of) us to cancel our remaining RS-orders? RS, please come up, and tell us something helpful! Yep, this was the straw that broke the camel's back for me....

good news / bad news Good: I received a reply to my order query 81xxx. It was a polite apology about the order status. It even had my order number included. Bad: They mention a problem with a group of orders in the 80k range that will delay fulfillment until the end of September. Yeah, I too have h...
