Re: Overclocking

IME the turbo mode is too much for us with Hynix RAM chips.
600Mhz is way too much, 500Mhz would work for everybody.

Why not create two turbo modes: Turbo and BiTurbo?

Re: The 2012-09-18 Raspbian image does not boot

Just some feedback.
The latest Raspbian image (from 2012-10-28) boots normally on my Pi, so something was definitely wrong with the previous image.
All is well now.

Re: The 2012-09-18 Raspbian image does not boot

I didn't have the time to further look at this, I've been very busy with other things. I think I'll just wait for the next Raspbian version, or else use some other Linux distro, like Bodhi, Puppy, Arch... For me, the July Raspbian version was the best - it just worked. Problems like these (no boot a...

Re: The 2012-09-18 Raspbian image does not boot

Right, I don't have anything to loose. When I have some time I'll try first to flash the card with dd ... BS=4M. If that still doesn't work (which is likely), I'll try the github files. abishur, could you post the link to github with the contents of the FAT partition? Thanks for trying to help, BTW....

Re: The 2012-09-18 Raspbian image does not boot

I've just tested it. Copying just the .elf files from an older image (that works) did not sove the problem, it would still not boot. Copying all the files of the FAT partition did it, it booted right away to the RPI-config menu. This result must depend on the (older) kernel and .elf files that one h...

Re: The 2012-09-18 Raspbian image does not boot

For instance, the dd command you list, did you rename the file to image_name.img? I've put a generic image file name as an example. The image file is the original Raspbian file, after unzipped. It gets very tiring to explain such simple things over and over again... One thing is certain: ev...

Re: The 2012-09-18 Raspbian image does not boot

dd if=image_name.img of=/dev/sdd BS=16M -> I've tried this too several times, it makes no difference other than more buffering when writing to the card. 5) Yes, I've tried on 2 SD cards that had images on them and worked fine before (with Bodhi Linux and Puppy). With the new Raspbian, they simply do...

Re: The 2012-09-18 Raspbian image does not boot

The Raspberry Pi is an ALPHA product.... and there are problems in some areas. Seems that nobody that is working on the issue can duplicate it with the hardware they have. I thought that the Raspberry Pi is a finished product, and what is ALPHA are the several Linux distros for it. But I may be wro...

There are times when we reach the end of the troubleshooting we can provide without additional information, especially when we don't have one of these boards that don't work :( There is no additional information we can give, the Pi doesn't boot at all, nothing, no image on screen, no logs, dead... ...

Re: The 2012-09-18 Raspbian image does not boot

As for a solution, have you tried an older version of the distro, like perhaps the one before (2012-07-15--wheezy-raspbian.zip) Don't take me wrong, but did you read this thread? My Pi works with an older Rapbian image - exactly that one - but I can't update it anymore, it will not boot then. So, I...

As you can see on this thread, nobody cares:

http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 63&t=19363

I am even not allowed to explain the problem, by someone who I don't think is a moderator. (!)
We are still an insignificant minority.
My Pi is collecting dust for almost a month now.

Re: RED LED ON, GREEN LED OFF

Please read the thread I've linked to in my last post, it's only a few pages. There are some Pis that don't boot with the latest Raspbian and Arch. One poster in my thread has just bough two Pis (2nd generation), one boots, the other one doesn't. Same SD card, with Rasbpian. It's not a hardware prob...

Re: RED LED ON, GREEN LED OFF

The problem that mhariri has is this one: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=17923 There is NO solution yet. The latest firmwares are acting up with some Pis, new or old. Don't be too harsh on this guy, he has done everything well, but his Pi will NOT boot. Send it back, ask for ...

Re: The 2012-09-18 Raspbian image does not boot

You have basically replaced the firmware files for an older version.
If you now update the firmware, your Pi may not boot again.
This is affecting several distros already, Raspbian, Arch...
It's a huge regression, as there's nothing worse than being unable to boot. (!!!)

Definitely, something on the latest firmwares is affecting some Pis.

I've been very busy lately and no time to look at this. What I think is that whatever the problem may be, it is something that resides on the boot partition. I would say the new firmware (files) may have some incompatibility with some Pis. If it was the kernel, we would at least get some image on sc...

Re: The 2012-09-18 Raspbian image does not boot

What's the difference in using the installer? Doesn't it just flash the SD card the same way as, say, the DD Linux command, or Win32DiskImager (which I have already tried)? BTW gb119, I'm not glad you also have the problem, I'm just glad I'm not alone here. ;) Hopefully someone will look at this... ...
