Raspberry Pi wlan connection loss

Hi, I have a Raspberry Pi 3, running as an AP. Things work well for serveral minutes, then some clients get dropped. If they try to go to a page on the web server on the pi, the http request does not even get to the web server. In the syslog, I see messages such as: Nov 17 06:29:40 100 hostapd: wlan...

Re: Pi 0w usb to LAN failure

Hi,
Looks like its a hardware failure. The same image works on another Pi0W.
Thanks for looking.

Re: Pi 0w usb to LAN failure

The image was created in a Raspberry Pi 3 and then used in a Pi 0W. Would that affect it somehow?

Re: Pi 0w usb to LAN failure

Used almost the same image. Im changing some dnsmasq configuration, but other than that, its the same.

The wifi comes up, so I am able to ssh into it.

lsusb gives me only one entry:
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Pi 0w usb to LAN failure

Hi,

I have a Pi W0 and connected a USB to RJ45 cable, which then connects to LAN. Things were working very well.

Then I created another image. In this one the LAN is not found by the system at all. How would I go about debugging this or narrowing it down.

Thanks.

Re: Wireless networking, multiple SSIDs, radius, and captive portal

Hi, When you have two wifi transmitters very close to each other (which would be the case when both are physically on the same machine), there is interference and the capacity drops a lot. Captive portal with one SSID is certainly doable. Our product is one such. On a related note, we are looking fo...

Re: How configure Stretch as WiFi "Access Point". ALL web blocked, only 3 sites allowed!

Hi there,

Yes, its possible to it with iptables:

iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 80 -j DROP

will drop all traffic (Ive not tested out the above command)

Above that add the sites that you would like to allow.

So, schematically,
Allow ip1
Allow ip2
Allow ip3
Drop the rest

Re: Corrpution on system backup

Looks like the problem is now resolved. I unmounted the two partitions before making the backup and before making the copy. Here's the explanation as provided by the tech guru: As soon as you insert the card, it would have mounted the partitions automatically. And lets say you dd and take a copy (th...

Re: How to create a modern web page (app?)

The two biggies for web are LAMP and the more recent node.js LAMP is quite heavy but is battle tested. node.js is lighter but has more bugs and unexpected gotchas. Choose the framework depending on the complexity of the pages. If its just a couple of pages of static stuff, dont bother with MVC and d...

Re: Corrpution on system backup

@B. Goode
The master image is fine. It boots up and the files are clean. Problem is with the copies.

The disk sizes are different. Master is 4gb. Copies I have tried are 8, 16 and 32gb all resulting in corruption.

Now trying the other suggestions.

Thanks for the input.

Above are the commands I use for the dd. I have tried several times on several SD cards.

Corrpution on system backup

Hi, Not sure this is the right section for this topic... I have a Pi with Raspbian. It runs a web server using node.js and express. I want to make another copy of the SD card, so that I can run the same thing on the second pi. To do this, I shutdown the server with sudo service webServer stop Then I...

Hi, Our product lets your wifi guests land directly on your webpages. Its a captive portal with a local web server. It runs on raspberry pi 3 or 0w and requires an open LAN from your router.
