Re: SDL game development in C++

Ah, that's because I've updated the code to SDL 2 but not yet updated the videos. This should fix itself if you install the sdl2 and sdl2_image development packages.

Re: SDL game development in C++

Oh, the default link colouring is indistinguishable from the normal text. The videos are on Youtube, but linked from http://www.phoric.eu/IntroductionToC++/ . Otherwise they are on my YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/moobarbaz . I've not yet reached SDL things. That should be the video af...

SDL game development in C++

I've started putting some video tutorials online (currently 2) of my games development course at the University of Brighton. The introduction to C++ course steps through the development of an SDL game on the RaspberryPi. It can be found on my personal server . The course text book is a CC-BY licence...

Re: Epetition to waive VAT on RPi

@tufty If they get over a certain number of signatures then they have to be discsussed in the Commons at some level. They have led to debates in the commons before. Personally, I agree with the epitition (I would, I wrote it) and I see no harm in trying.

Re: Epetition to waive VAT on RPi

@MattPurland: As I've pointed out, it's not that simple. They pay VAT and then claim it back on some things. Organising something with the distributors requires more organisation effort than can be reasonably requested from individial schools. But, I'm more interested in getting a cheaper RPi into t...

Epetition to waive VAT on RPi

Dear all, I set this up a while ago, but simply forgot to tell people about it http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/31417 It asks the UK government to waive VAT on the RPi. Simply because I think that the project has the potential to change the way we approach ICT/computer science at primary an...

Re: Is assistance required with packing?

Dear all,

Does the R-Pi foundation require help with physically packing and posting orders when the first batch arrive?  If, say, they are being distributed from a warehouse in Cambridge, there are some of us who would be happy to volunteer a weekend to help with the menial tasks.

Re: OpenTyrian

I\'ve had a quick look at the code and there doesn\'t seem to be anything x86 specific in there. So it should just be a case of checking it out and making it. The only issue seems to be that the data files are only available from a single host, which is currently down.

Re: Pi as a GLES platform

<r>@Heppie That's my intention, but it all depends on timing of the general release of raspberrypis. I hope to get a few units to test in the first release of 10,000 but we may have to wait until later to secure a budget to buy volume. Though, if students buy their own, I'll certainly support develo...

Re: Pi as a GLES platform

<t>Just to contribute to the general buzz around raspberrypi:<br/> <br/> I'm incredibly excited about the raspberrypi. I'm even more excited since I learned that this has been a slow-burning project of Eben's for a number of years. It's yet another "Consumer Electronics" product that shows that you ...
