Re: Unstable 5Ghz wifi connection on RPi 3B+

bls, thank you for your input. As I stated it earlier, in my case ticking the box Disable DFS Channels in the router settings did the trick. As I can see by now you also have solved the problem, so my congrtulations!

Re: RPi 3b performance in DMIPS compared to other Broadcom SOCs.

@ W. H. Heydt Thanks for the reply! Was away for some time. Correct me if I am wrong. Taking into account that all chips in consideration have Cortex-A53 architecture it seems plausible to assume that for some reason Roy has chosen to report per core results and multiplying them by 4 will give you t...

RPi 3b performance in DMIPS compared to other Broadcom SOCs.

As a new year is approaches and probably new RPi 4 is coming I tried to get an idea about how new RPi's processor might look like. Assuming that RPF continues to use Broadcom's SOCs I found the page listing all their chips: https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Broadcom Since we are talking about RPi one should...

Lags in omxplayer after an update

After performing an update last Monday (12/11/18), when apt-get offered me to upgrade something like 31 packages, I noticed that omxplayer started to drop frame rate during the playback of video files periodically. If I remember correctly, the majority of updated packages were related to ghost scrip...

Re: Chromium 70 on Raspberry Pi

Pity to hear that. I am extensively using Google services so many things depend on the Google's account, but I will give a try to Vivaldi. I really hope that with production of RPi 4 RPF will abandon support of outdated models and will explore capabilities of modern chips. I doubt that many users no...

Chromium 70 on Raspberry Pi

It takes more than 25 secs to load Gmail on the latest RPi 3B+, while Google Maps are still completely unusable due to the incredible lags. After updating Chrome to v70 on my Win 10 laptop I have an impression that loading time of Gmail has decreased dramatically. Do not ask me why I am not web desi...

If you happen to have older RPi, e.g. RPi 3b you can take a look at this https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view ... 9#p1363177 It worked for me.

Re: Ubuntu Mate 18.04???

Copy the contents of /lib/firmware/brcm/ from the latest Raspbian root partition to your Ubuntu Mate root partition. There appear to be ONLY three files which need to be added to Ubuntu to get the WiFi card running on the 3B+. Those are: brcmfmac43455-sdio.bin brcmfmac43455-sdio.clm_blob brcmfmac43...

Re: Ubuntu Mate 18.04???

I started with the "official" Ubuntu Mate 16.04 image and installed it on a Pi 3B. I then did the "sudo BRANCH=stable rpi-update" trick. This allowed the image to run on the Pi 3B+. I had run that for a few weeks, added a few packages etc. I then upgraded that working image to 18.04. The only progr...

Re: Volume was not properly unmounted... message at Stretch

[SOLVED] It turned out that the dirty flag was set not for boot or root partitions, but for a USB stick. Simple

Code: Select all

sudo umount /dev/sda1
sudo fsck -V /dev/sda1
sudo reboot

Did the job.

Volume was not properly unmounted... message at Stretch

dmesg command keeps posting "Volume was not properly unmounted. Some data may be corrupt. Please run fsck." To run fsck I used both methods sudo touch /forcefsck; sudo reboot And it seemed to work, but since I got another message in journalctl --since=yesterday urging me instead of creating /forcefs...

[SOLVED] Unstable 5Ghz wifi connection on RPi 3B+

wolf.z, thank you very much for your elaborated answer. It seems that thanks to your suggestions I have solved the problem! First I tried to disable power save mode, but no luck. Actually, I read somewhere that in recent versions of Raspbian power save mode for wlan is disabled by default even if it...

Re: Unstable 5Ghz wifi connection on RPi 3B+

@k-pi, probably you should run the test several times to get more accurate numbers. For example, in my case test results were varying between 6Mbps up speed to 10Mbps and I think other equipment on the ISP side was responsible for these fluctuations. @HawaiianPi, I tested my connection with my phone...

Unstable 5Ghz wifi connection on RPi 3B+

Recently I bought a new RPi 3B+ and tried to use 5Ghz band to connect it to my router. There was a problem with country settings, since it seems that RPi bans all 5Ghz frequencies when you set country to Russia, so I had to set different country, and currently it is US. With this settings the RPi se...

Re: Inconsistency in the performance of RPi 3 B+

jahboater, the blessing and the curse of RPi 3B and 3B+ is that they are very close to a decent substitute of a desktop PC. That is why you always want to push it a bit harder to have smoother user experience. For example, I didn't buy RPi to substitute my desktop. I bought it to run some Pyhon scri...

jahboater, cpuburn got my RPi 3B+ to 80C in 70sec and caused it to go down beyond 1200 :? So, I think, the marvelous temps you get a mainly due to the Kintaro heatsink, although I should admit that 3B+ is a step from 3B in right direction. I wonder why foundation doesn't produce heatsinks themselves...

Readings from your RPi made me jealous  I've just installed a set of heatsinks that I bought earlier, but even during light browsing temp stays around 55C. What heatsink do you use? And can your share the script you used to measure temp, freq, and voltage? https://images.yaoota.com/tk9z7wAlGRq...

Re: Inconsistency in the performance of RPi 3 B+

Thanks for a quick reply! I use conky widget to monitor frequency, but during the test it always shows 1.4Ghz , although there certainly were drops in frequency. Given that sysbench sometimes produces very strange results and conky is not very reliable can you recommend a better tools to test RPi's ...
