Re: Pulseaudio error connection refused.

This is probably a really dumb question but, since I’m still new to linux based systems like rasbian...is there a way to run gqrx without pulseaudio at all? Or install it without having pulseaudio installed with it? Every time i try to uninstall pulseaudio it automatically removes gqrx with it, and ...

Re: Pulseaudio error connection refused.

Hello, Make sure pulseaudio is installed: sudo apt-get install pulseaudio Then open a terminal and start the server: pulseaudio -D Make sure gqrx is installed: sudo apt-get install gqrx-sdr Then gqrx should work fine. I just tried it. ---- W1PJE Just Tried this now. It showed that pulseaudio was al...

Re: Pulseaudio error connection refused.

Bump.... Anyone? I’m still not quite sure what I’d need to do to fix this... And as a practicality, these forums have an Unanswered Topics search. By your own action your question would have been suppressed from the results of that search. I...actually didn’t realize that, sorry... I’ll keep that i...

Pulseaudio error connection refused.

Ok so I’ve been running into an error with my new raspberry pi 4. I’m trying to use gqrx, I installed it via the add/remove software option since attempting too directly from the website the old way always gave me far more errors than this one ever since buster released. So i get it installed, and i...

help getting gqrx to run on RPi 3

Every time I try to run gqrx on my pi, it refuses to work. I've followed the instructions here https://ranous.wordpress.com/rtl-sdr4linux/ and from the gqrx website, but despite this, I still can't get it to work. each time I right click to execute it through terminal a window pops up then immediate...

Re: How to send a sound signal through gpio pin to speaker?

I have a rpi 3 model b. Like mentioned it just needs to generate very simple tones. I just feel I should probably start small with something on the gpio pins. I would have asked for help with an led but...well I had the speaker, I didn’t have an led. As for the amp, main reason I asked if I could us...

Re: How to send a sound signal through gpio pin to speaker?

So I wouldn’t be able to get any sound out of the speaker at all without some sort of amp? Not even a faint one? Ok so i guess my next question is, could I create a sound amplifier somehow using stuff like electrolytic capacitors, or transistors etc? Only reason i ask is cuz i’ve got stuff left over...

How to send a sound signal through gpio pin to speaker?

so I’m trying to get back into learning how to use the pi, and was just wanting a simple project using the gpio pins. Basically I’m wondering is there any way to send a signal through one of the gpio pins to generate sound through a small 8 ohm 0.1w speaker? Not trying to do anything really fancy, s...

Anyway to get a pi+arduino mega to use a original ds screen?

So this is an odd question I know but....I’ve got both an arduino mega 2560, and a pi, and was wondering if there’s any way I could get them to work with an original(first gen) ds screen. Either the touch one or normal. I am thinking about getting new screens for my ds since they both had dead pixel...

Re: Can't Get retropie to recognize wireless mouse.

There wasn’t any mouse software that I know off, also I think it might have something to do with retroarch itself, as the same problem occurs with the other retro gaming os’s you can use. I formatted the sd card again and instead tried noobs and installed not only the raspbien desktop, but several o...

Can't Get retropie to recognize wireless mouse.

So i have a logitech mouse and keyboard, the m185 mouse(basically the cheapest ones I could get) to use with retropie. Problem is it doesn't recognize the wireless mouse at all. I know the mouse is fine because on another SD card I have the standard rasbian desktop to help myself with learning progr...

Re: what to do with an old police scanner.

So a bit of an update...I’ve finally gotten around to disassembling things off the scanner... turns out the bulbs aren’t led, they appear to be tiny incandescent ones. Idk how much that changes things but figure I should mention it. I made sure to take photos of everything as i was doing it, so i kn...

Re: what to do with an old police scanner.

Nice pics of the "relic" you have there! If it were me, I'd take everything out of the case, carefully, I'd save the speaker, the LEDs and some knob, the case of course! I'd probably save the crystals as well. Turn the unit to an RPi powered music streamer with LED VU meter display (thus the LEDs) ...

Re: Not sure where else to ask this....

If this device is totally broken and beyond repair, I'd consider turning this in to a Software Defined Radio "scanner". Strip out the contents and replace with a Pi and a USB SDR module (many TV modules can be used) and install some software to pick up and decode radio frequencies. It’s not broken ...

what to do with an old police scanner.

Ok so this is gonna probably be a really weird question but... Basically i found an old RadioShack police scanner of my grandfathers, like really old...so naturally i took the thing apart cuz i was curious about the insides of it... Now I’m curious if there’s anything I could use off of this for any...

Re: STICKY: Introduce yourself!

just bought a pi at target. been eyeing them for awhile now. a friend of mine got one on amazon basically as an emulator box, but I didn't really care for that since I've got all the games i want either as the originals, or through Nintendo's vc service. and besides that you can get those on pretty ...
