Re: Help/ideas on building a web interface to a python program

I seem to have gotten the socket solution to work, although I don't have the programs actually writing to the socket yet, I've gotten a python script and my PHP script to both connect to the same socket. At first I was running into permission issues with PHP, I solved that by allowing www-data group...

Re: Help/ideas on building a web interface to a python program

That definitely gives me some ideas on how I might move forward with flask. However I stumbled onto using unix domain sockets to communicate between processes. I've successfully gotten two python3 scripts to communicate via a unix domain socket, but I'm running into permissions issues when I try it ...

Re: Help/ideas on building a web interface to a python program

Well, I think flask might do what I want, but I'm a little lost on how to get from point a to point b. Right now I have apache2 hosting me page, I know now how to get javascript to read keyboard input and take an action, but what I'm unclear on is how to use flask to get that javascripts action to b...

Re: Help/ideas on building a web interface to a python program

I'm not sure directly accessing a gui would be useful, this pi doesn't run an xserver. That framework is not using xserver just using normal HTTP. You connect to the Python program from a browser and it draws its buttons etc on the browser page. So like a normal native GUI but remotely accessed thr...

I've briefly glanced at flask, the tut I was following along with didn't make it apparent that flask could do what I want. Perhaps it can, I'll look at flask in more depth for sure.

Help/ideas on building a web interface to a python program

Okay, so I'm a beginner programer, I've built a python program that lets me control a robotic pi car from a ssh session via the keyboard. I'm trying to transform it into a web app where I can control the car via a web browser instead of via ssh, which will also include a video feed from the car so t...

Re: Battery powered Pi car is having power issues.

Well I dropped the voltage down to 5.3v on the booster to the motors (these boosters are variable, there's a little screw I can use to adjust the voltage), I was getting much the same issue, although it took a bit longer to crash I could tell the motors were really struggling to engage. I took the b...

Re: Battery powered Pi car is having power issues.

My motor driver module takes care of back emf from the motors. It has diods that prevents the ripple from coming back out of it.

I will look at 5,000mAh to 6,000mAh Li-Po batteries. Maybe I'll get a Pi Zero W too, I really don't need all of my Pi 3's power for this.

Thanks for the help!

Re: Battery powered Pi car is having power issues.

I'm using a Pi 3 Model B v1.2. I'm pretty green when it comes to electrical circuits. I'm honestly not sure *what* voltage these dc motors are meant to be ran at, I cannibalized a cheap RC car. Which ran off of 4 AA's. I really only had my voltage regulator set that high because this motor driver mo...

Battery powered Pi car is having power issues.

I'm fairly new when it comes to tinkering with electronics. I'm building a raspbery pi powered car, right now I'm just trying to get running, I intend to add a camera and make it a first person view car. The problem is right now when the motors engage, the power light on the raspberry pi goes super ...
