Re: If we miss the first batch ?

From what I gathered elsewhere on the forums, they\'re limiting the first batch to 10k devices due to financial reasons. Production is pretty fast so the second batch will follow up quickly once they\'ve raked in the payments and can pay for another batch.

Re: Really dumb question about power.

<r>Well, the Linux kernel usually displays a line \"System halted\" and then stays there. You can cause that kind of halt even on APM/ACPI enabled machines with \"shutdown -H -h now\"<br/> <br/> Since the RPi draws less power when it\'s ON than my computer\'s motherboard when it\'s OFF, I would prob...

Re: Doomed to use Powered Hubs

<t>If a compliant USB charger should be able to source 1.8 Amps by specification, why would there be any reason to make the fuse blow at a lower current?<br/> <br/> 1.8A should be enough to allow at least one port to draw the maximum .5A while still powering the Pi itself and maybe another usb devic...

Re: Doomed to use Powered Hubs

<t>As there seems to be a LOT of confusion about power to the usb ports ... has it been confirmed by the devs that the RPi won\'t power a 2.5\'\' HD or is this just speculation?<br/> <br/> I have to say that this would kill the device for me. Having to use a powered hub on a device that is connected...

<t>1:100,000.<br/> <br/> Seriously, if we leave out the monitor, then keyboard+mouse, psu and connector cables will still easily add up to $35.<br/> <br/> What do I want with a computer that doesn't have neither an ethernet jack nor wifi?
