USB0 4G Modem doesn't get IPv4

I have several raspberry pi's with the exact same setup with 4G USB Modems attached connected with Eth0 to the main wifi router. Usually the router issues an IPv4 and IPv6 to both eth0 AND USB0, but sometimes the USB0 doesn't get the IPv4. I've setup squid proxy to automatically forward internal tra...

The same modem is now running on one of the other RPI 3B+'s for the past 2 weeks, no problem...

Do Pi's Burn Out?

1 of my Pi 3B+'s (I have 5) appears to have burned out in headless mode. I tried many of the troubleshooting techniques . When turned on with SD Card, there is a solid bright red-light. No blinking, no green light. I have also tried booting with and without a usb-hub and noticed the hub's light neve...

Re: Maximum combined total USB power usage?

Thanks! I'm using the official RPI one = 5.1v 2.5a

Looks like it could easily handle multiple wifi dongles with lots of spare room.

Maximum combined total USB power usage?

Anyone know the maximum total power that can (should) be drawn from the Raspberry Pi 3B+ from all usb devices combined, without needing a powered usb-hub? I have a few usb devices/dongles I'd like to safely plug in simultaneously. I've found their power-consumption #'s, so I wonder if there are any ...

Safe to power multiple Pi's into 1 usb-powered-hub?

Is it safe to have multiple Pi's powered by something like this? Anker 10-USB-Port Powered Hub

Or is it better to have individual power adapters for each Pi?

How to Copy/Paste Files from USB to /etc

I used VNC to copy 20 files from /etc/ to the USB on Pi #1. 3. Pi #2 VNC opens up the usb drive and see's the files. I cannot copy/paste files to /etc...

Re: Sync Time from Internet

I'm not sure this is working correctly. I'm sitting next to my RasPI 3B+ and a windows server. I have the option to sync windows to time.windows.com or time.nist.gov After trying the linux commands in this thread, and enabling internet time sync on windows, both machines are still off by 25-50 seconds

I was following this step by step, but something is different on my end. Right after the 2 partitionings with gdisk n, w, and v.... I'm running into issues with formatting. I'm running an RPi 3B+ on latest version of Raspian Stretch, and using a brand new USB 3 Flash Drive pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo mk...

SD Card Backup taking 15 Hours

I'm using a 64GB SD Card on RPi 3B+ . Most of the card is empty, but I heard that bigger cards risk less damage from constant rewrite. All I am backing up is the latest raspian img + 100mb of new package installs and config files... Using this method of backup for mac 1. unmounting the card 2. runni...

I'm following this thread too. I've also tried a number of blogs to connect a 4G/LTE USB Modem to RasPi 3 B+ with latest Raspberian Distro, but all have failed. Even the most current blogs all seem to be dated a few years

Re: Where is /dev/serial/by-id/ or similar directory?

Are you seeing the /dev/ttyUSB* devices? The system creates the /dev/serial links when the ttyUSB devices are recognized. What serial devices are you using? Don't do rpi-update unless you have really special hardware and know exactly why you need to run it. It creates more problems than it solves f...

Where is /dev/serial/by-id/ or similar directory?

I can't find /dev/serial/by-id/ . Its missing in the latest distro. Is there a way to get it back, or is there a similar directory somewhere? I'm using the latest Raspberrian on RPi 3 B+, have done apt-get update, apt-get upgrade, rpi-update... The plugged-in usb devices show up perfectly with lsusb...
