Re: Good reasons to buy the latest Rpi 4 with 4G RAM?

I bought a Rpi4 with 4G RAM primarily for a low cost NAS for doing rsync backups from various systems. Configured a set of flash drives on a USB hub RAID10 with a hot spare. Mdraid is not that fast on the Pi so the 4GB of RAM provides enough buffer cache head room to make it worth while. The initia...

Re: Rpi4 Ethernet Link Goes Down/Up

The power supply is rated at 3.0Amps. I put a scope on it and it shows a solid 5.2vdc with negligible ripple. The GbE switch is a TRENDnet 8-port Gigabit GREENnet TEG-S80g. The only other devices attached to the Pi4 is a 7 port USB3.0 hub with its own power supply. I have 4 USB flash drives RAID-10 ...

Re: Rpi4 Ethernet Link Goes Down/Up

Thanks.
I swapped cables and tried different ports on the switch.
Something is funny with my gigabit switch. Other systems work okay. Just the rpi4 has issues.
When I plug the rpi4 into a 100Mb/s switch, all works fine.

UPS USB Causing Not a MTP Device

Hi All, I installed a Tripp Lite UPS and when I connect a USB cable from it to the Raspberry Pi, syslog is flooded with the messages shown below saying the device is not an MTP device. Does anyone know how to disable MTP checking for USB devices? Communication to the device works with the NUT utilit...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B MAC Address Suddenly Changed

Thanks for the replies. The Pi is set up for DHCP. When I power up the pi, my router leases two IP addresses; one for the original MAC, and yet another IP address for the new MAC address. While the pi is shut down, or the Ethernet cable is disconnected from the pi, I cannot ping either of the addres...
