Re: Load SD Card Image using camera

nice workaround
does your O/S treat your camera as just a hard drive, or as a media device?
is it worth making a how-to for others?

powering RPi via computer's usb port?

I know i've read that my computer's usb port shouldn't be used to power the Rpi, because it can't supply sufficient current, but it seems that for usb 3.0 the "USB-IF has upped the maximum bus power output from about 500 mA to 900 mA" http://www.techspot.com/guides/235-everything-about-usb-30/ so it...

Re: adding a cooling fan?

thanks for all the replies, my graphics card failed recently, so I might take the heat sink off that and try something like this: http://hackaday.com/2012/06/26/adding-heat-sinks-to-a-raspberry-pi/ but I'm looking for active heat dissipation options, too. I'll probably look at alternate power suppli...

adding a cooling fan?

So, I've been looking at different Raspberry pi stuff, and am under the impression that it runs kind of hot. I've got my hands on a small fan, (2.5 cm X 2.5 cm) that draws 230 milliamps and runs on 5v. Is there a way to power the fan through the R-pi? Should I use the gpio pins? should I use another...

need to kill 6 weeks

So, placed an order at element 14; the R-Pi is on backorder, and it'll take about 6 weeks to get mine. Needless to say, I've got time to kill! So, here's my todo list- 1) decide on an O/S and prepare an SD card. 2) get a USB hub 3) get a wifi adapter 4) find something to use as a case (or make a cas...
