Re: Help with creating a service at boot

You probably need to specify the full path to 'ffmpeg' To quote the 'service' man page DESCRIPTION service runs a System V init script, systemd unit, or upstart job in as predictable an environment as possible, removing most environment variables and with the current working directory set to /. I th...

Re: newby -using time with a python script

Thanks to rkn704 for the info on the schedule function in python. All cron does is execute the commands in the crontab at the given times, just as if you had entered the same command in a terminal. The difference is that they are run in the background, rather than as a child process of the shell. Wh...

Re: newby -using time with a python script

I assume, from your question, that your scripts run continuously in a loop until killed. If that is the case then I would just add a crontab entry to kill the running script. So, if your first script is /home/pi/script1.py and you second script is /home/pi/script2.py, your crontab could look like th...

Re: newby -using time with a python script

Sounds like you need the help of 'cron' . 'cron' is a system utility that can execute commands at scheduled times. 'crontab' is the program you use to define 'cron' tasks. Check the man pages for more details man cron man crontab man 5 crontab If you really need to run you scripts as root then use s...

Re: Raspverry Pi 3 web server takes long time to load

I am running a web server on an original Pi B without any performance issues. Try replacing your Wordpress page with a minimal "Hello World" page. Something like <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title> Hello World </title> </head> <body> <h1>Hello World</h1> </body> </html> If that loads quickly then ...

Re: sudo: gid problem?

Looks like your /etc/sudoers file has been corrupted or perhaps one of the files in /etc/sudoers.d. Use sudo visudo to edit the /etc/sudoers file or sudo nano /etc/sudoers.d/<filename> to edit the others. My /etc/sudoers looks like this # # This file MUST be edited with the 'visudo' command as root....

Re: Failed to start System Logging Service

I don't have a solution for you but on my Raspbian system there is no /etc/ld.so.nohwcap file nor any of the tls, v7l, neon files that are reported as missing in your strace output. Have you installed any package that provides those files? As far as syslogd goes, have a look in /etc/rsyslog.d to see...

This looks like your Pi has no internet connection.
How is it connected to your network?

Re: Having issue with Raspbian Stretch Lite and SD card/boot partition?

The image that you create on the SD card is a bootable Linux operating system.
All you need to do is insert the SD card in your Pi and it will be up and running.

Re: Terminal doesn't open properly first time

This sounds a bit strange, especially if it only happens sometimes . It seems as if, when you run the first terminal, it is invoking bash in non-interactive mode. That would explain the lack of a command prompt. The fact that you get the 'license and no warranty message and the last login time messa...

Re: Could not find or load main class SerialTestGET.

You may have your CLASSPATH environment variable set to something that does not include the current directory. It is generally NOT a good idea to have CLASSPATH set at all. See https://docs.oracle.com/javase/8/docs/technotes/tools/unix/classpath.html Check its value by typing echo $CLASSPATH if it h...

Re: .jar files opening with xArchiver rather than running JRE.

You need to tell the file browser to associate the '.jar' file type with the 'java -jar' command. You can do that in the pcmanfm with the following steps 1. Right click on a '.jar' file and select the 'Open With ...' option. 2. In the switch to the 'Custom Command Line' tab in the 'Choose Applicatio...
