Re: running a python script in desktop envirenment remotely

@topguy Quick follow up if I may (none of this belongs in advanced users I suspect!)... How do I tell on the pi whether my phone is currently logged into the pi, running the script? I've tried "ps" - but this doesn't show an extra user logged in. I'm logging in as my normal "pi" user through the pho...

I just confirmed: uninstalling BlueZ also masks and deletes hciuart.service. You're going to need to (re)install pi-bluetooth.

Code: Select all

sudo apt install pi-bluetooth
This did it... thank you both!

Doesn't appear in task bar - I'll try and set it up via command line later through bluez and test it that way. Thank you.

Thanks PhilE, that doesn't do the trick unfortunately.

I've removed and added it to the task bar, and reinstalled lxplug-bluetooth, and bluez (again). Weird.

Re: Raspbian buster bluetooth failure after 2019.09.16 update

One last thing (hope you don't mind me posting here) - while trying to make it work I broke the task bar icon / bluetooth manager. I can't seem to relaunch it. Is it blueman, can you tell me? Or bluez? I uninstalled everything when the keyboard wasn't working in desperation... and can't remember wha...

Will this resolve itself in a later update? How long away would this next update be?

Same issue - bluetooth kb won't connect for more than a few seconds any more. Was working fine since launch until recent update.

Logitech K380 keyboard.

Hoping engineers are aware of this pretty please...

K380 user checking in also...

Haven't used Pi4 for a couple of weeks and now won't connect to bluetooth kb for more than a few seconds.

Hoping whichever update broke this can be reversed :)

Thanks v much!

Yes the script starts the browser.

So I just "export DISPLAY=:0.0" and then run my script? This is great if so. Thanks again...

running a python script in desktop envirenment remotely

Hi there Hope I can explain this clearly enough. I use a pi4 to make online gym bookings for me. I use Selenium to visit the gym's webpage and click the appropriate link. It works fine but I'd like to be able to start the python script (and pass variables to it) remotely. I can do it through VNC, bu...

Re: Why is the RPi4 being advertised as a desktop computer?

Think the OP has long gone (his work is done - everyone reacted!).

I think there's decent odds ARM based computers might be the next normal. Apple annoyed with Intel presently - their iOS devices already running ARM - if they switched their "desktop computer"s to ARM it could be huge.

I am not angry at rpi group or anything I am just frustrating that it feels the OS is not ready at least from my point of view is a little bit disappointing and I believe it should have been a smoother release is all. Respectfully I think most folk here are happy to get their hands on one sooner, a...

Pi4 Power Requirements

The only way to buy (pre-order for a week's time) a Pi4 here in Canada was within a kit.

The kit includes a 2.5A micro USB power supply, plus adaptor to USB C.

https://www.buyapi.ca/product/raspberry ... udget-kit/

Is this up to the task? Or should I buy something better on Amazon?

Thanks
