Re: Is Epiphany faster on Jessie?

I created a more realistic benchmark for my web app which simulated clicking on all the buttons in sequence. Using native javascript to select DOM elements rather than jQuery reduced the time to complete the benchmark from an average of 7095 ms to 5475 ms (21% less time). Changing jQuery to javascri...

Re: Is Epiphany faster on Jessie?

I'm following the advice to minimise use of jQuery. Based on a test function run in a browser on my desktop computer I think I will get some benefit - using jQuery to select an item by ID seems to be ~5x slower than using javascript Test Function function FaceOff () { console.time('JavaScript'); for...

How to make epiphany save cookies from command line?

I'm using epiphany for a kiosk mode setup. I have multiple kiosks connected to one server so I use cookies to identify which kiosk is which. Epiphany doesn't seem to be saving cookies between restarts, every time I start epiphany again it behaves as if no cookie is present. What settings do I need t...

Re: Is Epiphany faster on Jessie?

Thanks for the replies, I will stay with Wheezy. I don't have a good explanation for why I thought it might be faster with Jessie other than newer should be better? Or maybe Jessie just sounds faster than Wheezy :D . I have a bunch of RPi B+ s which is why I'm trying to find a way to use them rather...

Is Epiphany faster on Jessie?

I'm using Epiphany in kiosk mode on a Raspberry Pi B+. The Pi has the latest version of Raspbian Wheezy.

Epiphany performs well but I'm hoping to squeeze some more speed out of it. Would upgrading to Raspbian Jessie:
  • (a) make no difference?
    (b) speed things up?
    (c) break everything?

You add the following properties to the body of the webpage

Re: Any way to disable click and drag on touchscreen?

I found a partial solution that will at least stop text being inadvertently highlighted by the user if you are building a web app. You can add the following text to your CSS for body: -webkit-touch-callout: none; -webkit-user-select: -khtml-user-select: none; -moz-user-select: none; -ms-user-select:...

Re: Powering the Pi 2B from an AA Battery

Except the Pi wants 5 volts and the AA is only 1.5.... I am embarrassed. The current draw figures in the example calculation are too low. However, if you put the ammeter between the battery and the PSU as I suggested then you will be able to use the figure you get to do the calculation correctly. I...

Re: Powering the Pi 2B from an AA Battery

You could use an ammeter between the battery and the PSU to measure the current drawn while it is active and the current drawn while it's on standby, then calculate how many cycles it can do before the battery capacity would be exhausted. E.g. if the Pi wakes up five times an hour and uses 500mA for...

Re: Powering the Pi 2B from an AA Battery

Can you provide a link showing the kind of PSU you are using? I think you would struggle to power the pi off an AA battery. The pi 2 requires about 400mA without any accessories (http://raspi.tv/2015/raspberry-pi2-power-and-performance-measurement). 400mA at 5V is 2 watts. For your 1.5V battery to p...

Re: rpi USB limited to 15 ports?

Sorry - your original solution did work. When I did uname -a I saw that I had version 3.1.9. I did the update a few weeks ago and didn't realise there had been a firmware update since then. Rerunning rpi-update fixes the issue, webcam can now run indefinitely

Thanks for all the help!
