I've been having a very similar issue, I have the CM3 in an aluminum enclosure with a heatsink that makes contact with the aluminum case, and it generates an incredible amount of heat. I'm using the compute module 3 with an IMX219, I asked the factory to not include the cryto chip which in hindsight was a mistake. The camera does not work with the current firmware. If I run rpi-update the camera will start working but the wifi module will stop working. I'm using Wilinks 8 wifi+ble...
