Re: STICKY: TUTORIAL: Build the #1 Image Viewer – Automatically in 3 Minutes!

I have sucessfully installed feh using your tutorial..... Thank you for providing an excellent set of instructions together with background information. It works fine displaying images, previous and next and a slideshow with images stored on the Pi SD card or a drive mounted on the USB interface. A...

casue possible panic. I've already addressed this matter with a well-written and detailed response — so I'm not going to rehash this all over again. Users were explicitly told to watch the first couple minutes to make sure the initial downloads worked. You obviously feel that's an excessive burden ...

Re: GIANT UPDATE: Build FFmpeg and mpv – Automatically in 54 Minutes!

So again it all boils down to you can't be bothered to write a proper script and you will always blame the user when something you write doesn't do it's job properly. This is absurd! Even a team of world-class computer experts from Stanford, MIT, UC Berkeley and the University of Cambridge would NO...

Re: GIANT UPDATE: Build FFmpeg and mpv – Automatically in 54 Minutes!

Yes, there's no problem with checkinstall — if apt actually downloads it. But sometimes the mirrors aren't working and apt can't find them. What then? Make it the fault of the user? As you'll see below, your comment reveals that you didn't even read my instructions — because I explicitly addressed ...

First of all, love your post my friend, this is an excellent tutorial! Second of all, I have a question, I only have a Raspberry Pi 3B+, it's my first one ever, my question is, can I go back from the actual os version (Raspbian Buster with NOOBS), to Jessie directly from my raspberry without having...

So perhaps you could make your own .deb package with all the scripts included and spare the users

Perhaps I will be the one to decide what I do with my own tutorial.

To borrow your provocative phrasing, it is you that might wish to "spare the users" of flawed technical advice in the future.

Not sure if you are aware, but feh 3.1.3 is available in Debian Buster repositories. To install, simply run: wget http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/f/feh/feh_3.1.3-1_armhf.deb sudo apt install ./feh_3.1.3-1_armhf.deb No need to compile anything or pollute your system with dev packages or unman...

Re: OMXplayer - how to choose better streams with m3u8 playback?

The problem I have with streamlink now is to play an encrypted m3u8 link... I've never used streamlink, so I can't give you any advice on that. However, I will say that subscription sites have a strong incentive to make what you're trying to do either very hard or impossible. That's why I used the ...

Well, I have no options as Filemaker will not run on a Raspberry Pi system. The script that exports the image file is a Filemaker script. I realize "it is what it is" — the other system at your warehouse is not a Raspberry. For good or for bad, that's what you're dealing with. I assume, however, th...

I guess I should have made my inquiry more specific in regards to any debugging aids..... Filemaker and its scripts are running on a W...

Nice work. I see feh is at version 3.1.3..... Is it worth considering updating the original script? A review of feh's changelog reveals...
