Re: Wireless firmware testers wanted

Hmm, perhaps another corner case that is still present. Any errors in the logs?
Couldn't find anything of interest in the logs, so I've done an apt-get update etc and will see if that improves things.

Re: Wireless firmware testers wanted

I've been running the new firmware for about 11 days now but sadly it has NOT fixed my WIFI dropouts.
There doesn't seem to be any pattern, but on average it still fails about once a day.
I'm sure I've copied the new firmware to the right place, and nothing else seem to have been adversely affected.

Re: Wireless firmware testers wanted

I've put this firmware on a Pi3 that DOES have a WIFI dropout problem. I run it 24/7 and the WIFI disconnects randomly, sometimes many times a day, and other times it will go 3 or 4 days before failing. My PI is used as a remote monitor for many things and my access to it is VNC over WIFI, so failin...

Re: Colored text with Esc codes doesn’t work

Thanks Paeryn, scruss and davidcoton Here's me accepting with humbleness that the guidance did warn me of the IDLE shortcomings, and starting to delve into the terminal way of things, then a way of producing a few colors is found! I'm not sure yet if I can adapt my code to utilise this "fix", but it...

Re: Colored text with Esc codes doesn’t work

Hi scruss and Paeryn Thanks for your help, and as your replies are similar I'll try to answer in one go. I'm running Python3 from the gui console via IDLE, i.e. start Raspbian gui and select Python3 from the Programming menu. This opens a window where a file can be opened. When run another window op...

Re: Colored text with Esc codes doesn’t work

Hi DirkS and scruss. Hopefully this will answer you both. I've not yet discovered how to post in color as you both have, but here is a simple paste of my Terminal screen running Python3 with termcolor. The pi@raspberrypi is displayed in green, the ~ $ is in blue, and the Hello, World! is in glorious...

Re: Colored text with Esc codes doesn’t work

Hi DirkS Yes, I used a new micro SD card and downloaded Stretch using Etcher. It made no difference whatsoever, which was leading me to suspect something wasn't right by design! From the ipython trial it seems I can produce color in the terminal window, but I really just want to alter some colors in...

Re: Colored text with Esc codes doesn’t work

Hi n67 Success at last. I've got ipython working and the "in2" part of your experiment does indeed produce green text! I should have taken better notice of what you suggested in your first post. The question now is what does that really mean? I'm guessing it may mean that normal Python can't produce...

Re: Colored text with Esc codes doesn’t work

Hi n67. I hadn't tried the ipython approach because I didn't have it installed and assumed it was similar enough to give the same result. However, I've tried most other things, so I've now tried to install ipython, but failed miserably. It appears to install ok using pip but when I try to call it fr...

Re: Colored text with Esc codes doesn’t work

Thanks n67. Good to know it works for someone and that what I'm trying to do should work! I had half expected to be told that this was a common problem and I've missed the most obvious setting somewhere, but no. I just want to change the color of some text that is the output of a monitoring program ...

Colored text with Esc codes doesn’t work

Hi. I’m trying to display colored text using ANSI escape codes but without success. I’m using a Pi 3B with Raspbian Stretch running Python 3, but I’ve also tried Jessie and Python 2. If I enter print(“\033[0;32mGREEN\033[0m”) then [0;32mGREEN [0m displays (but not in green). I get the same result at...
