Rpi3 as a minecraft server?

I was wanting to turn a spare pi3 into an always on minecraft server for my nephew to tinker with (TLDR below) first step I tried Cuberite, but I had huge complaints from my nephew about combat being flat, AI feeling bad, everything in the region instantly moves towards you in a straight line, core ...

quest for a nice compact keyboard ?

searching for "small keyboard" and having trouble finding exactly what I want, wondering if someone has some suggestions that maybe easy to get hold of ? needing it to be *around 15cm wide (problem most' small' thin keyboards seem to be just wide as regular sized ones without the cursor/numpad) *wir...

Re: Guide: Installation of *VANILLA* Debian 10.0 or later on Pi 3B/3B+

Sorry the first issue was totally my own fault having some experience with I possibly skimmed parts of the guide more than I should have  That's strange. I did test Wireless install on a B+ and had no issue connecting. We'll have to see if other users report the same issue... mine is the 3B+ t...

Re: Guide: Installation of *VANILLA* Debian 10.0 or later on Pi 3B/3B+

just to give my experience, the guide was relatively easy to follow and everything went pretty smoothly apart from a few issues. for me at least it seemed letting the installer automatically allocate partitions based on free space is bad because it will complain it can't find the Uefi parition then ...

wondering does this open possibilities of other 64 distributions being made? or maybe more was there any obstacles stopping other distributions being made full 64 bit?

I kind of like the zero as a bit of an underdog also enjoy threads like this. I once tried to turn mine into a usb wifi adapter, I got it working as a usb gadget but never really got it fully working. using cuberite I tried to run a minecraft server though it was painfully slow, thought it did work ...

Re: unplug anytime ?

The most common way to set up a system like that is to have the main file system as read only. so if i partition a 16gb card say something like a 6gb root as read only then 10gb fat32 for read/write storage (due it it being a pretty fast fs without logging) would that mean it is safe to power down ...

unplug anytime ?

hi, wondering if its possible to setp a pi/linux system in a way that it can be safely/randomly unpowered at (almost) any time ? the main idea is I want to run form an inexpensive powerbank which works fine from testing but don't really have any battery indicator (though i do know it runs for a few ...

Re: Tool like imgurn (for ripping disks) on pi?

dd is pretty easy can get the cdrom device name by typing mount and backup and image something like .. dd if=/dev/<DEVICENAME> of=~/image.iso alternatively and probably simple enough install xfburn "sudo apt-get install xfburn" its a nice gui and pretty easy to use. I have used it on ubuntu but neve...

Re: Why i had to take back my PI4B.

You won't see a change to the micro-HDMI ports - that was the only way they could squeeze two HDMI outputs onto a board that size. Yes, it's a bit annoying, but it just means you need to use an adaptor (or two). i saw someone suggested they could be stacked like the usb ports, that would work right...

Re: Why i had to take back my PI4B.

Do you have any research indicating the percentage of Pi owners who use the header? I am fairly sure RPF/T do. do they publish the numbers ? specify things like education or consumer, how do they know people at home are using the header? are they collecting "telemetry"? anyway I would still put mon...

I was kind of interested in the Pi4 but had been holding off for a few reasons rather than jump in . first wanting to see peoples feedback on the new ports usb and hdmi ports (not a big fan, still hope for a revision with more common port types) secondly predictions that memory prices this year will...

fun idea pi4 as a gpu?

Hey, so just a weird thought and maybe not the best use of a pi4 but ... I have seen several basic sub $10 usb2 vga adapters floating around ebay and similar sites that got me thinking with pi4 having a pretty fast usb3 connection now, in theory would it be possible to have the pi4 emulate a usb 3 g...

"USB-C too tiny"? Well that's a laugh. I watch Explaining Computers on YouTube sometimes but I've never heard him say that. @W. H. should I get a pi 4 or ?

Hi, Im considering getting a pi4 but the extra ram, the form factor changes, the new tiny flimsy connectors mean I will have a shell out for a lot of extra bits that all add up to this pi upgrade costing maybe around £80 for that price I can get a brand new all inclusive quad core atom tiny pc with ...

Re: What limits RPi4 OC to 1750 MHz?

Please be aware that if this processor bit is set, it cannot be reset and your warranty is void. If you are OK with that, by all means proceed! but is it legal ? you can't really give a user the option to overclock via software and void their warranty if they do so.... can you? I mean in the US it ...

Hellos, I have seen a couple of people throwing around the pi4 is "entry level pc performance" personally I would say (and google said too) the current sub $100 intel i3 and ryzen 3 are 'entry level' but slower things like quad core atom cpus exist so wondering what exactly is entry level pc perform...

" Most would be happier with a single standard size HDMI" count me in, those tiny hdmi ports are going to break! maybe they should have added 2 internal hdmi headers then let the end user decide which 'adapter' to plug in depending on what ports they wanted ? back to op though, I disagree on usb3 ma...

should I upgrade to the 3b+ ?

few questions I wanted help with :3 is it worth upgrading from the pi3 for the minor performance boost the slightly higher speeds the b3+ will give ?
