Re: No boot after reboot command

If you dd an image to your SSD, you will have to run fdisk to alter the ext4 partition size to utilize the full capacity of your SSD and then run resize2fs. raspi-config won't resize anything but an SD card (unless you use some patches I provided in another post). You must also modify /etc/fstab on...

Re: No boot after reboot command

You should also be aware that if you're using parted's resizepart command, it resizes the partition but it does not resize the filesystem in that partition. To resize the ext4 filesystem, you also need to run resize2fs . Not sure, I did this using mouse via gparted . Probably it execute both of the...

Re: No boot after reboot command

I created usb-boot to script it all and hopefully eliminate the human error factor. thanks, I got your Idea. By the way, while experimenting, I disabled auto-resize stage, Manual resize with parted tool works pretty well. Why I did this - firstly I've made master image of my customized raspbian ima...

Re: No boot after reboot command

You might find usb-boot (https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=196778) useful as it automates all the manual fdisk'ing, copying/moving, and editing described in the post you referenced. Thanks a lot! Not quite sure, but why do we need to do this at all (in bold above)? What if I j...

Yup, that's been my experience as well.
You inspire me,
So do you unmount sdcard after boot completed? Or even power off it with lnux command?
Just for sure nothing will damage it.

Re: STICKY: HOWTO: Move the filesystem to a USB stick/Drive

Amazing thread! Thanks TS for this post. Even now this theme is up to date. I'm struggling with direct SSD boot on RPI3 for last couple of months, the issue is that RPi3 has some restrictions on supported hardware, I've already bought tons or USB-SATA adapters and none of them is working on RPi3. My...

Re: No boot after reboot command

Thanks for the hint, I will try to look into /var/log on the ext2 root filesystem BUT as soon as I have GREEN LED constantly OFF after reboot, this means Raspbian kernel even doesn't get a chance to start. How Can I debug phase of boot sequence described here? Boot sequence details Booting on a Pi i...

Re: No boot after reboot command

I would like emphasize, that I have ONLY one SATA-USB adaptor with which raspberry boot and reboot well. With others it' boots but reboots fails. Re: No boot after reboot command

Actually I did all steps according to doc: Starting with the 2017-04-10 release of Raspbian you can install a working Raspbian system to a USB mass storage device by copying the operating system image directly onto your USB device, in the same way that you would for an SD card. At first time I setup...

Re: No boot after reboot command

Some additional details about my problem: I just take else one(its fourth already ) SATA-USB adapter which has it's own power for hard disk. And it allows to reboot raspberry correctly. But it's obvious that some limitations exist, as soon as I can't take ANY SATA-USB adapter and attach boot HDD(SSD...

Re: Just something goes wrong I don't know what (sdcard corruption?)

I started to use RPI last year, and I quickly found how fragile all this micro SD card stuff.
SDCARD is not intended to work in 24/7 mode.

Question to maintainers:

Is there plans to remove SDCARD at all and switch to normal hard disk(HDD or SSD) boot I mean UEFI or BIOS like?
