Re: Just received my RPi4b/4GB - no HDMI output!!!

I’m still waiting for the OP to issue an apology for describing the Pi4 as a disaster and accusing the foundation of not testing kit before it ships it.... especially as he’s had lots of direct support from RPi staff to get his issue resolved.

Re: Stretch->buster: experiences, hints?

I had a go at upgrading my stretch sd card to buster. It seemed to work ok but I started running into issue - LMS would not work, network mounts in fstab wouldn’t mount and most problematically startx would fail to load the desktop consistently and xauthority would start locking itself. I’ve succesf...

Re: Pi3 internet browsing and Youtube performance

Has Chromium been updated recently? Or something changed? I did an apt-get update, apt-get dist-upgrade this morning. Having been able to handle full screen YouTube videos previously, my Pi's are unable to play YouTube videos at all now, or at best they play for 20/30s before the they start to perma...

Re: RetroPie alternatives that don't require dual-booting?

Retropie can be installed on a standard Pixel distribution, you dont have to dual-boot.

A large number of the emulators used in retropie can be launched from a terminal within Pixel.

Re: Pi3 internet browsing and Youtube performance

I have to say I'm impressed by the latest version of chromium. Watching 1080p fulscreen YouTube (without resorting to omxplayer) is much improved over older versions. For starters the constant pause every 3 seconds for audio is gone. Secondly whilst some frames are dropped its much less than before....

Re: Run raspberrypi for Long Duration

I've got a 3B, a 2B, two 1B's, and 2 Zeros, all running 24/7, all mounted in various cases, all continuously doing something , and they only get rebooted for substantial OS updates. The most recently rebooted one has been up 15 days, the longest up at the moment is just hitting 90 days. They'll run...

Re: Fullscreen hi res Youtube on PIXEL mod

Hmm, omxplayergui does not appear to like calling either YT_LINK or xsel, whereas if I just paste in the contents of xsel (the URL) it works fine.

Re: Fullscreen hi res Youtube on PIXEL mod

Sorry, I'm a bit thick, how exactly would you alter your script?

#!/bin/bash
xdotool key ctrl+alt+d
YT_LINK=`xsel`
omxplayergui --preset=default ytdl $YT_LINK

Like this?

Re: Fullscreen hi res Youtube on PIXEL mod

Cool, I like it. it's a good replacement for rpi-youtube (at last until that's back working again).

Is it possible to call OMXPlayerGUI instead so that opens and extracts the stream? That way you'd get a window with controls rather than just a borderless video stream.

Yes, h264ify is installed. I must be doing something quite wrong, because the latest update buffers and stutters more than ever for me in youtube, both in cinema mode and full screen mode, to the point where anything other than the standard small screen is unwatchable. Windowed HD Vimeo streams seem...

Hi! omxplayergui ytdl [url] correctly loads omxplayergui and runs videos full screen, however playing a video in youtube and then clicking the rpi-youtube icon at the top right of the window no longer works to bring up the omxplaygui. it's as if the updates to the HW video accelerated version of chr...

Re: BETA: Chromium v51 ARMv6 w/ HW video acceleration (updat

Hi, yes i installed h264ify. I ran apt-get update then apt-get dist-upgrade then rpi-update. I then rebooted and did run_omxplayer.py-U (this is what I've been doing to update rpi-YouTube).

I'm now on version 51.0.2704.91 of chromium.

Rpi-YouTube is 5.1.0-1

Ok, I've been using your chromium + rpi-YouTube extension for ages and it's been brilliant, so I thought I'd give this update a whirl on my rpi3. All went well following adding dev to the source, an apt-get update and apt-get dist-upgrade and then finally a run_omxplayer.py -U, but now clicking Extr...

The differences in speeds between the rpi3 and the system you're runnig are quite interesting. I'm surprised the mflops are so different.
