Re: Android 4.4 Port

Any helpful tips or guides in accomplishing this would be great. Heya, I'm Warg, one of the people working on the RazDroid-project. There is potentially a lot of overlap between our two projects, and as such I believe there'd be mutual benefit if you guys dropped by our IRC-channel (#razdroid on ir...

Broadcoms response w/ regards to their Android

This was posted in our IRC-channel early this morning (CEST): http://www.pastebin.ca/2374548 Food for thought, at the very least. Also note that I will be putting in a number of hours on this project Wednesday to Friday of this week, and as such I invite anyone that can help (and people who just wan...

I wish this forum had a 'like'-function so that I could like the above post. MrSlacker, you really got the point I was trying to make.

Re: Android slow

Also custom roms do not always take that long and also you do not need too much Android developers to do the job. Not to be rude or anything, but this project is far more than just a custom ROM. This is actually PORTING Android onto a new device, which involves a whole bunch of coding as opposed to...

Re: Project: Android JB 4.1 with Hardware acceleration

The issues are most likely to be caused by mali.ko, ump.ko and gralloc.default.so, the .KO files are from the kernel and the .so file is from /system/lib/ so from the looks of it, you have to replace a few files from the kernel. Might I inquire as to where you got that information? mali.ko is a ker...

Re: Porting Android

Quick status-update, we're pretty sure our libs work now, however we're not getting output to the screen. A user in #cyanogenmod-dev suggested it's a page flipping issue. Currently investigating. If anyone has any idea of a fix, please, drop by IRC or send me a PM containing your suggestion.

Re: Gingerbread Image

I'm experiencing exactly the same with this image, only I'm using the HDMI output. Last line in the terminal which I'm able to read is: "Untracked PID 106 exited". I've read the config but there isn't much in it either. That is odd, you should be getting a GUI after the "Untracked PID 106 exited".....

Hello, Ray_GTI-R. I am Warg from the Razdroid project, and I've decided to answer a few of your "complaints"/issues with our handling of things. Yes although as you probably know, very little progress. By that I mean lots of people seem to have tried with almost no news about what's in the pipeline/...

I would suggest you join the IRC-channel (#razdroid on irc.freenode.net, (clicky clicky web link, enter #razdroid as channel and a nickname for, well, nick)) and asking us there, as I'm not really in the mood to post a wall of text at the moment.

Should say Dreamspark Premium account, as a regular Dreamspark account doesn't have access to the Compact version that's required to get it to run on ARM.

Re: Windows CE

So, to kickstart this thread again, I happen to have a MSDN AA account with access to Windows Embedded 7 Compact, as the latest version of WinCE is titled. I am currently in the process of setting up the dev environment (~64GB, ouch), and will start looking at the feasibility of starting a port in t...

Re: Porting Android

i'd say a recovery mode would be useful for flashing zip files and therefore injecting components easily into /system (even if it can be reached only from terminal) Well, /system is reachable anyway, if you're on Windows all you need is a virtualized Linux-environment and if you're on any other OS ...

Might only be for apps, but check '/anr/traces.log' as that's where the full traces are logged usually.

Re: Porting Android

Thought I'd share my kernel images. They all have the Android options enabled. 3.1.9+ 3.3 3.5-rc2 But every image with the needed android patches enabled doesn't boot (colour screen). I tried to compile one without them and that one boots just fine. So I guess it's safe to say that there's some inc...

Re: Porting Android

I just cannot get my head around this, I follow Casey Anderson's instructions, no errors but my kernel will not be read by the Raspberry Pi. All I get is the colour screen upon boot. Anyone who's successfully gotten their kernel to be read by the RPi care to share what's wrong with my output? http:/...

Re: Porting Android

I am in the process of rebuilding everything due to getting stuck on the infamous "colour screen" at boot, after that my priority is to push everything to two git-repos, one for the kernel and one for the filesystem.

Re: Porting Android

I compiled a 3.3 kernel with Android support. It runs Debian Wheezy. Compiling ICS for ARMv5/ARMv6 might be harder though... I don't know about harder, but it certainly takes a lot longer than the kernel. I've compiled both the kernel and Gingerbread (due to ICS demanding proper video drivers), now...

First compile did not give any errors, did not try it on my own Pi though so I have no clue if it works. If anyone wants to try it, the link to the folder where my compiles will be uploaded is http://www.mediafire.com/?64at2y834apvl and the first one is already up. Will check to see if it works tomo...

Re: Bulding XBMC for Raspberry Pi

Just a quick note from someone who got his Pi a few days ago; I am currently compiling the latest XBMC-RPi sources available and will post binaries when done. It won't have PVR, but I imagine it'll be useful for someone. Cheers, Warg ---EDIT--- As for regularly building, I plan on doing a build once...
