Re: where are change notes found?

Thank you for that link, it was what I was looking for. By clicking on the actual commit items I'm able to see the additions/removals from the codebase. Too bad there isn't a more non-techie version for non-programmers but that's fine I guess.

Re: where are change notes found?

So then, to make my point, within the last two days, there was an update to raspi-config. Can anyone tell me specifically what was changed?

where are change notes found?

Just installed an update to raspi-config and tried to find where the release notes are but couldn't find them. Is there a specific spot where any change made to the kernel and associated modules like raspi-config are noted?

Re: frustrated: how to create backwards router on 3B+ ??

Okay, I followed several guides and with a mishmash of configs I managed to get the pi to act as a router for the ethernet port over wifi. It actually works, since I disabled my laptop's wireless and plugged in an ethernet-to-usb adapter, then plugged it in the pi and got an IP address and had Inter...

frustrated: how to create backwards router on 3B+ ??

So I say "backwards" because all the googling I've found shows several completely different ways to turn the Pi 3B+ into a bridge or router by using a wired connection to the Internet and allowing wireless clients to connect to it. I want it the other way around. And since you're asking yourself "wh...

Re: Assign diff IP to eth0 than wlan0 on 3B+ ?

Thanks, that's helpful. I guess I was dancing around the fact that i just need to turn the Pi into a router to make this whole thing work the way I want. The cam is no longer on their website but it is a "T-series" from https://jennov.com/ and a search on their website turns up a software download a...

Re: Assign diff IP to eth0 than wlan0 on 3B+ ?

Since the direct wired Ethernet connector option works, I'm wondering if there is a way on the Pi to use DHCP/IPtables and configure the eth0 port as a router that can issue the cam an Ip address, yet leave the wifi on wlan0 alone so it can still connect to my home network. Basically turning the Pi ...

Re: Assign diff IP to eth0 than wlan0 on 3B+ ?

Appreciate that. I did do that via email, and the support person wrote--through broken Chienglish--explained that the software they have is for Android and iPhone and Windows only and couldn't give me any technical details about the camera other than the RTSP port it uses. So, there's that... /sigh

Assign diff IP to eth0 than wlan0 on 3B+ ?

I've confused myself into a corner. Trying to hook up a security cam in the garage to a Pi 3B+ running MotionEye application (not O/S) on Stretch. The cam has a built-in wireless access point (AP) and an Ethernet connection for wired access. Simplistically, that tells me that it wants to be "the ser...

Re: Rasp 3B+ download speed capped to 63Mbit/s :-/

I assume you know that the 3B+ gigabit LAN shares the USB 2.0 buss and is thus capped at about 224 Mbps instead of the max 950 Mbps. Interesting read here: https://www.jeffgeerling.com/blog/2018/raspberry-pi-3-b-review-and-performance-comparison Also read this thread that suggests bad gigabit LAN ca...

Re: Control head light from rpi via dmx

I suggest you might find something useful on this site: https://learn.adafruit.com because they focus on beginners with Arduino/Rpi. Owner is very liberal-progressive but if you can ignore that stuff, the tech is fun and there is a lot of information available for someone who wants to take the time ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

The original "fix" with lowered RAM speed from 500 to 450 seems to have worked for me. Of course, all I use it for is to run Pi-Hole for the network. It's been rock stable for, well, here's my Rpi-Monitor stats: Version Processor: BCM2835 Distribution: Raspbian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) Kernel version: ...

Re: Dead RPi 3 B+ after short circuit pin 1 and 2 of GPIO

Two thoughts: 1. you are definitely not faster than the speed of electrons, so "less than a second" made me LOL 2. it sounds strange, but try putting it in a ziplock baggie in your freezer for about 30 minutes. The onboard power regulator has a self-healing fuse. If this doesn't work, just be glad i...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

My personal opinion is that if the SW fix doesn't fix the issue, i.e. you are still unable to run stably at 1400Mhz, then I believe you would be entitled to a refund or replacement from the original vendor since the board cannot reach it's claimed clock speed. Most vendors will need proof that ther...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

So then the logical next question is, what do we do if we want full usability on our defective Pi? Return it to vendor as defective, paying shipping costs both ways, and hope the new one doesn't have the same issues? Mali it to Pi HQ and they will mail back a known good one? Suffer in silence and b...

The update/upgrade dropped my RAM freq to 450 but kept my SoC speed at 1400 and I've been stable for several days now, where before it always locked up within a few hours.

cpuinfo shows wrong hardware?

Can anyone tell me why the following cpuinfo shows incorrect info please? I thought the new rpi 3B+ had a BCM2837 per this webpage: https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi/raspberry-pi-specs-benchmarks/ . I recently upgraded to the latest raspian dist since I was affected by the lockups that are happening...

I have the very same problem on my Pi Zero W. Jessie shows no network interfaces, yet wireless Internet works just fine and I SSH into it with no problems.
