Re: Raspbian lite not updating

Thanks. I was able to reinstall Raspbian lite last night and during the install, it asked me for my network info. After this was entered, it almost immediately connected and all of the updates installed seamlessly. I am working on creating a lightshowpi project and everything installed without an is...

Re: I need help building a Raspbmc for Honda Odyssey 2018 (It has HDMI!)

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use the AC power outlets. As far as storage, you could always use an external HD powered by USB, but I would make sure the pi’s power supply is adequate (2.5-3A). Also, mount it some place it's not going to get kicked around. There is a wide assortment of case...

Re: Pi Zero W media centre

A while back, I installed plex on my Pi3 to stream tv shows/movies/audio to Roku connected TV's. As long as it didn't have to transcode, it worked okay but the processor hovered at 50-60% the entire time. IMO, a pi zero with 1 core, opposed to 4 cores really would not be ideal. It just doesn't have ...

Re: Raspbian lite not updating

Thanks for responding...Yes, I checked and it IS a Pi Zero W. I was panicking for a second that it didn't have wifi capabilities =) I think I (might) have figured it out...at least it sounds good in theory. I read somewhere to load a config file (I think they called it wpasupplicant.conf or somethin...

lightshowpi and pi zero w

Hi everyone, This may be a really stupid question, but I've seen a few people using a pi zero W for their Christmas light displays. My question is, how do you output sound when the zero does not have an audio jack? My only guess would be to use the bluetooth capabilities along with a BT speaker. I a...

Aww man, had I known about a cheaper, smaller form pi 3 coming out I wouldn't have purchased a pi zero!

Re: Raspbian lite not updating

Hi everyone, very new to all of this but I've recently acquired a pi zero and installed Raspbian Lite. When I typed in 'sudo apt-get install update' I received an error that the repository was not found. This was a fresh install and I selected the correct location settings. It sounds like it's tryi...

Re: Alexa Pi ZeroW vs Pi3 Performance

The problem you're going to run into with a Pi 0 is the fact it lacks audio output and only has 2 micro USB ports (one of which is solely used to power the rpi) You may be able to use a bluetooth speaker, but I've always found it flaky wanting to connect. I'm sure after you figure these problems out...

Re: New RPi 3 B V1.2 Rainbow Screen at Boot

I've never used a 32gb card with my pi3, but I would try reformatting with the SD association formatter. I believe if you download the NOOBS file, you simply have to unzip it and then drag and drop onto the root directory of the sd card...no need to use a program like etcher. They also have solo ver...

pi zero W and lightshowpi

Hi everyone, I recently successfully installed lightshowpi on a rpi3 which was educational and extremely cool. Well, I recently acquired a pi zero W which I want to try to do the same thing with. I understand that it doesn't have a audio output however, I know it has bluetooth capabilities. Is there...

You can't start GUI programs from cron. Use the LXDE autostart process.

A fancy clock that pulls the weather forecast and radar. Was looking to utilize an old monitor.

PiClock problems

Hi everybody, so happy I found this forum. I’ve had this pi for about a year now and so far have installed Raspbian, retropie, took an online course to learn Python, installed a semi-working motion detection camera using ‘motion’, PiHole, and got a semi working ‘Alexa’ which would have worked better...
