Re: LinuxCNC

My idea on this kind of implementation was to get the parallel port signals after stepgen and serialize those over SPI.
On uC side would have been trivial to get them from SPI and output them on parallel.

Re: LinuxCNC

Hello Kinsa, Thank you for fast answer ! I will do the SPI tests on PSoC4 on next days. Before of that I have just wanted to understand better high level solution. So : - RPI it's running a realtime linux - LinuxCNC has a HAL that transmits over SPI the actual coordinates to board - Board receives t...

Re: LinuxCNC

Hello Kinsa , Hello All, I have just discovered this thread and I have read it on a fast track. It's very nice ! I would like to ask for support for following ideea : I would like to try to use this setup on a PSoC4 microcontroller from Cypress ( ARM Cortex M0), they have also a kit with arduino com...

Re: Machinoid hard real-time distribution optimized for mach

First of all , congrats for your achievements !
When I saw this thread I was thinking that you have managed to run EMC on PI , but your ideea to run GRBL directly on PI it's very nice.

Could you give us some details how did you compiled grbl, how did you call it/test it.

Re: EMC2 RPi Hybrid hack?

thanks for pointing to this solution.
Unfortunately it's a closed source solution . Even if that guy opened a code repository on http://code.google.com/p/rtstepperemc/ he didn't post a thing there.

Re: Real-time linux kernel

Hello Serac,

Would you please wrote a to do list in order to make the port of linuxCNC to R.Pi ?
I don't have necessary knowledge but If I would have a tutorial/guidance I would give it a try ...

Kind Regards,

If could have the knowledge I would try it myself. His board it's running at 400mhz.

Re: EMC2 RPi Hybrid hack?

Quick update , owner of emc2arduino just replied me and said that LinuxCNC can be fairly easy configured to use a serial port.
Still remain the problem to get LinuxCNC on Raspberry...

Re: Real-time linux kernel

Hello Mung, Impressive amount of work and information ! Since I conclude that real time linux it's something far for Raspberry I was thinking to following solution : http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=9490&p=126225 Since raspberry has a serial connector on board it seems that it ...

Re: EMC2 RPi Hybrid hack?

Very interesting ! Unfortunately on site emc2arduino I haven't found any released version of LinuxCNC that could be able to send only GCode commands. REgarding integration of raspberry pi with arduino than it can be done over serial port getting rid of usb . Here I think that are needed some configu...

Re: Real-time linux kernel

Just that I have seen the image of EMC2 on Raspberry Pi it's fantastic.
I am far to weak to help you in this endeavor but I will be your first tester !
