1. Yes i can see ssids double 2.4 and 5 gz into the gentoo ... 5. Sometime not always can connect 2.4 ghz Thanks! One additional test that'd be useful: if, on Raspbian , you put: [pi4] arm_64bit=1 [all] at the end of the file /boot/config.txt, and restart your RPi4, you'll be running a 32-bit Raspb...

There's not a lot changed across the various v1.5.2 revisions that would have a likely impact on you, other than the kernel. You can try masking this back to an earlier version if you like. To do so, put the following in /etc/portage/package.mask/kernel: ~sys-kernel/bcm2711-kernel-bis-bin-4.19.86.20...

Sakaki, would it be possible to exclude certain files and directories from being synchronized from host to guest, while allowing the rest of /home/pi to remain synced? Since the container starts in its own mount namespace, it would be possible to bind mount a new .config directory inside the guest ...

Setting up a persistent dual-display setup for the RPi4

Hello,

I've received quite a few email requests about setting up a persistent, dual-display setup for the RPi4 under Gentoo, so I've put together a quick wiki tutorial about this, here.

FWIW, the twofing gesture daemon works pretty well with the official RPi 7" touchscreen. It (and the on-screen pop-up keyboard onboard ) are bundled with gentoo-on-rpi-64bit , and I have used these to create a standalone BIOS-flashing bench tool that I use fairly extensively: https://wiki.gentoo.org...

Actually the kernel shipped with recent v1.5.2 image is 4.19.8 6 (I have not tried 4.19.85, and the 4.19.84, which was unmasked for a week or so during v1.5.2 run-up testing (my bad ><), has some issues with mesa compa...

They are all Pi4s with 1Gbyte as the end product is price-critical. And it is your build I downloaded. Well, there was an issue a little while back where this module was corrupted (handshake key mismatch) on a (previous) version on the binhost. This can cause the configuration issue you are seeing. Check if you have this problem by running: demouser@pi64 ~ $ perl -e 'require XML::Parser' If you get a...

Re: how can i download 64bit JKD on my 64bit pi4?

The 64-bit environment is just vanilla arm64 Debian Buster, so you can follow the instructions e.g. at https://wiki.debian.org/Java to install an appropriate JDK (or JRE).

(Please remember you need to run "sudo apt-get update" prior to installing new software in the 64-bit guest).

I have yet to look into what this nspawn thing actually does. From a previous post: [...] systemd-nspawn lies roughly in the system virualization spectrum between a guest OS chroot, and a full-blown KVM approach. Unlike KVM, when booted under systemd-nspawn the (>=1) guest OS shares a common kernel...

What? Wow! How do we then get to use 64 bit user land libs?
Well, one way would be to try out raspbian-nspawn-64, which can now be installed from a deb (rather than requiring its own image). More details may be found here (currently in testing/beta phase, so feedback welcome).

Not sure why that would affect the Pi4's x11. It doesn't seem likely that it is the uSD card, more likely the contents. If you have one of t...

How would you keep the shipped metadata up to date? We spend a lot of time here reminding people always to do update before upgrade.... The short answer is you can't in any sane way, absent an image autobuilder or similar. Which is why the initial version forces the issue by having no metadata onbo...
