Re: 4.19 kernel 64 bit support - please report issues here

What issues are you seeing with fkms? I thought I'd got to the bottom of the issue on fkms and it is working fine for me. Buster appears to have a broken Mesa at the moment though, so x is giving me issues. Just another thing to investigate. With fkms, the kernel either seems to boot fine, or else ...

Re: Easily run 64-bit Debian Stretch packages on a Raspbian system: new RPi3 demo image released (systemd-nspawn, LXDE)

Shouldn't be a problem at all. I've spent a bit of time on this yesterday. I've added the overlays and have been setting up a workflow to automate everything. We can set up a release github webhook to trigger a deb builds or I can just set up a cronjob to check for new releases. Perfect, many thank...

Re: Easily run 64-bit Debian Stretch packages on a Raspbian system: new RPi3 demo image released (systemd-nspawn, LXDE)

Hi ShiftPlusOne, as the default kernel branch appears to have just been bumped to rpi-4.19.y (from rpi-4.14.y), I've updated my kernel autobuilds to track this. Hopefully this won't cause any issues for your binary kernel deb? PS no rush on the remaining packaging, as I will be tied up for the next ...

Re: 4.19 kernel 64 bit support - please report issues here

As it looks like rpi-4.19.y has just become the default branch [1], I've updated my bcmrpi3-kernel and bcmrpi3-kernel-bis 64-bit autobuilds accordingly; binary kernel tarballs are therefore available [2] for anyone who'd like to have a play (see links just given, for download instructions) ^-^ Hint:...

ShiftPlusOne, I've updated the kernel autobuild script, and manually triggered it to check. So, from this release , there is another top-level folder overlays in the tarball, which contains the dtbo files (and the README). I've also added the bcm2710-rpi-cm3.dtb file to /boot. I've already got the 32bit and 64bit of my fave programs installed (thats why it took a long time to "install") So you want me to test: Clean boot32 <snip> shutdown Clean boot64 <snip> shutdown report results to this forum if the above sequence is OK then I'll make time. Re: Easily run 64-bit Debian Stretch packages on a Raspbian system: new RPi3 demo image released (systemd-nspawn, LXDE)

You'd set the architecture to arm64 if you wanted it to install in an arm64 userland, which isn't the case here. If it was set to arm64, it wouldn't build for, or get added into an armhf apt repo. Ah OK, makes sense. Nicely illustrates why I'm not the right person to do Debian packaging ^-^ dtbo fi...

Ok so I got it up and running, and after installing my favorite apps (took fairly long time), below is is the screen capture of the desktop. Great! Kodi is a bit weird given the way it takes over the desktop; I have it running on the gentoo-on-rpi3-64bit image, but haven't tried it in this setup.

Good stuff - thanks. What about the pin numbers? Are they offset like the Debian wiki says?
No, iirc, under the RPF 64-bit kernel (which this image uses) they aren't offset. But cat /sys/kernel/debug/gpio to check - I may be wrong about that.

If you are booting with a 64 bit kernel, does this break the python libraries? Or is it just the upstream 64 bit kernel that breaks them? Reference: https://wiki.debian.org/RaspberryPi3/#GPIO If these libs rely on /proc/cpuinfo rather than checking the device tree, they'll not work under a 64-bit k...

Hopefully a USB bootable version will be available in the future.... As the host OS is (essentially vanilla) Raspbian, I believe it should boot as-is if you simply write the image to USB rather than microSD, and then boot with this USB (and no card in the microSD slot) (on an RPi3B+ that is; on an ...

Hello, I've just released v1.1.0 of the bootable image on GitHub, here . As before, you can burn the image (~925MiB compressed) to a microSD card (>=8GB), then boot your RPi3 from it directly (the root partition will be automatically resized to fill the card on first boot, per the standard Raspbian ...

Not particularly tbh. There are a few tweaks to webgl and tooling, plus support for AV1 and WebP: see this note and also this one.

AFAICT The USB issues will be present on ALL 64 bit kernels - it's not something that only affects 4.19. If someone would confirm that then it would be a useful data point. I'm just creating the PRs to enable all the extra modules for camera drivers etc in bcmrpi3-defconfig. Looking at your bcmrpi3...

FYI, I've just pushed www-client/firefox-65.0 to the binhost . Users on the latest v1.3.1 gentoo-on-rpi3-64bit image just need to run genup (as root, or using sudo) to get the updated browser via binary package - or, if you prefer, simply wait for the system's weekly autoupdate to do this for you.
