Your first move should be to get a brand new, factory fresh, branded, genuine, 8GB (or larger) SDCard and write a copy of "Midsummer" 2017-06-21 Raspbian on it. I just got myself brand new SD card, SDCA10/16GBSP, i got it from 100% legit computer store and i'm sure it is nor any kind of chinese fak...

There is 33% uf space used on root partition.
Also, there is some exampe of what happens when i try to install anything, it was "sudo apt-get install vlc"
