Re: Updating hostapd fails…

It is still necessary and there doesn't seem to be an alternative. With a clean copy of Buster Lite, my experience says it is not. I made a typo error in the config file and the AP failed on error because it couldn't find the file name. So I know that it is used if it is there. I haven't tried remo...

The fix for me is to edit /etc/default/hostapd and set DAEMON_CONF="/etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf"
This works for me too with Buster but the documentation says DAEMON_CONF is depreciated and will no longer be supported. It is still necessary and there doesn't seem to be an alternative.

What are the side effects of multiple IP addresses on one port???

Hi I have figured out that I can add multiple IP addresses to the eth0 port using the command: ip address add 192.168.1.69/24 dev eth0 and delete with ip address del 192.168.1.69/24 dev eth0 I have confirmed this works on Buster. I am concerned that the side effect of adding multiple IP addresses to...

This works:

Code: Select all

sudo ip address add 192.168.1.12/24 dev eth0
That could go in rc.local, a system.d program or /etc/dhcpcd.exit-hook
Yes, this works for me too.

To remove an ip address:

Code: Select all

sudo ip address del 192.168.1.200/24 dev eth0
I can confirm this works also.

Re: Raspbian Buster - Need to get 3 IP addresses on eth0 from DHCP

Hi My reading on this is that the ip link add link code creates a vlan. That adds a tag to the packets so needs a vlan aware device to connect to. I have just got this working: sudo ip address add 192.168.1.12/24 dev eth0 As an experiment, I added 3 IP addresses to eth0. I can ping all three from an...

Hi It turned out to be a problem with the perl environment and @INC (but not PATH). I installed most perl modules from packages but some were only available from cpan. Re: cron won't run a perl program

Hi
The problem is that CPAN installed a couple of modules in my home directory. All of the other modules in deb packages were installed in /usr

cron can find the /usr modules but can't find the ones in the home directory.

cron won't run a perl program

Hi I am stuck on a problem with cron. It won't run some of my perl programs. These programs have been running for years under Ubuntu and now Raspbian. Now they don't. Re: Stuck in Emergency Mode Hell

Hi
I found the add init=/bin/sh command to the cmdline.txt file.
I then edited fstab and commented out the USB autoload line.

That got me out of a big fire.

Stuck in Emergency Mode Hell

Hi I can't boot my known-to-be good SDcard. The problem seems to be caused by a fstab file that doesn't match the connected or absent USB stick. Re: mjpg-streamer fails to compile

Hi
I have done enough Raspian builds to know I haven't done anything to break the c compiler. Right now I have 5 Pi's on my desk and a whole lot more installed. If I sound a bit grumpy it's because it has taken me over 2 days to compile a program and get it running.

I'll raise a bug report.
