Re: PT100 & MAX31865 on a raspberry

If your experiences with ds18b20 sensors is with ebay/aliexpress bargain components you may have been victim of shoddy or even fake components? fyi I bought a batch of 10x 'bargain' sensors 6x failed -in a row!! == 1 x Very frustrating afternoon, thankfully i did have a good quality reference sensor...

Re: USB Ethernet to PiZeroW on Raspbian Stretch not working

Hi, the thing that stands out about the guide you liked to and followed is its 2016 date, and in the world of R-pi thats OLD and OUT OF DATE, it references the jessie version of raspbian which iirc uses a different network/wifi confic system (interfaces,d changes may be redundant) tbh im vauge on th...

how do i find out if they are on the same subnet?
an ifconfig command issued at the cli will give details of network connections netmask=subnet ;)

what web pages are you trying to open in a vnc session? your probably better off accessing the pages in a local browser..

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B Power Usage

While R-Pi s are great, If its a simple scan and log type device, i would be inclined to suggest an esp32 module with its low power deep sleep capacity to extend battery life.. use an spi interface to a SD card reader for storage, and or log to the cloud via mqtt or iot protocol of your choice when ...

Re: I finally got my Raspberry pi boards to work with my Motorola Lapdock 500

hopefully its something simple to do with either the battery itself connections or discrete power related circuitry which can be replaced easily enough..

2nd use batteries are a minefield and a lipo cell that has been allowed to drain below a certain threshold can be very problematic.

if your script is trying to execute before everything it references is up and ready? perhaps starting the script with a 60/30/20? second delay when used for autostart could give everything it needs the opportunity to start up and initialise.

also if you intend to run raspbian consider simply downloading raspbian and using etcher to copy the zipfile directly to the sd card. (less data to download and fewer steps)

Re: Issue "Network Error : Connection refused"

Also, how I can delete the 'raspberrypi.mshome.net' DNS from my windows. It seems like windows has locked on this DNS with 192.168.137.66 ip address. Any time I change my raspi's(Ethernet's) IP address to 192.168.137.67 and try to ping 'raspberrypi.mshome.net' , windows still tries to connect to 19...

Re: Connecting to multiple networks

add "wpa_supplicant.conf" to your search string ;) thats the file you want to edit.. iirc its found in /etc/wpa_supplicant (not on a pi atm..) add entries like: network={ ssid="WORK NETWORK NAME" psk="WORK PASSWORD" id_str="work" } network={ ssid="HOME NETWORK NAME" psk="HOME PASSWORD" id_str="home"...

Re: Limit Switch

in the code you posted your using the BCM pin numbering. the clue being: gpio.setmode(gpio.BCM) https://www.quora.com/What-is-BCM-and-why-is-it-used-in-a-Raspberry-Pi so pick a currently unused gpio for the limit switch pin40 aka GPIO21 for example gpio.setup(21, gpio.IN) a limit switch is basically...

Re: Battery for Pi Zero with 3G

to use a smaller battery you could consider using a smaller simpler dev board with a deep sleep and nominal draw that can wake on a gpio input to control power to the pi-0. that way you can on receiving input power up the pi, connect a 2nd gpio from the dev board to the pi so it can signal when its ...

the reason i suggest the wifi solution is because of the inherent safety of maintaining physical isolation between mains electricity and you. Now when it comes to 'safety critical' application of a wifi smart switch, as its a programmable device, just program it to behave safely. Taking an example o...

Yes, and you should not have any issues. and No, No problems at all, just like swapping out the system hdd in a desktop pc..
