Armor case from 52pi + small heatsink with thermal tape for PMIC chip and you seriously don't have to think about heat anymore :D

52pi armor case

Very big upgrade from those basic solid type aluminum cases (open type has better ventilation + WiFi reception should be pretty much same as without case)

I know about that case, it has some variations (no fan, one fan, two fans)
No fan case variation is very likely "geekworm" brand, which is copy case from 52pi case (original designer of the armor case), according to their support.

It looks like this. Already enough ventilation + 8 small extra holes (which were for screws)

have a look at this McPi motorsport case, CNC machined and anodized with a real carbon fiber top and a stainless LED ring power switch. It is fanless and is designed to be the highest quality case you can buy. https://www.macsboost.com/product/mcpi-carbon-fiber-aluminum-racing-raspberry-pi-case/ Qu...

Re: Need a case, heatsinks and fan. Also "is this a bad case?"

You could also take off fans out of the case, it would still be good as it's open case.

It just leaves quite hollow place on the upper plate (looks ugly), anyway then it would be fanless.

I wonder how much noise that makes?
I've heard some who got defect cases (who knows, maybe even copy cases?) noises were somewhat high, but normally they should not do much noise at all, if you are used on computer fans, then these are almost silent.

You can be sure, that you have no problems with heat anymore with this case :D Note: "52pi" is original designer of this armor case , rest are either selling stock from 52pi (package has guide with 52pi logo on it) or selling copy version, with possible of wrong aligned of screws, thermal tapes wron...

I still prefer my main RPi 3B+ setting over that earlier cheap passive aluminum case: Akasa aluminum case, during installation of large sticky thermal pad to bottom, I included 0.3mm thick copper shim (bought x5 set from banggood) with it, even without copper shim it hit to bottom plate, so now ther...

Re: Heatsink on the LAN Chip

This case will keep your 3B+ model cool, thermal tape / pads are recommended to use with case, thickness of 0.15mm somewhat thin, bad to none contact (0.25 - 0.5mm takes contact, differences comes with pressure), I got 2 of these cases just 2 days ago (bought from banggood), used Akasa thermal tape ...

The board layout is identical to the 3B apart from the four extra POE pins. Ethernet moved, reason why fanless case from my signature isn't supported. Leaves empty spot. For example, this is supported ofc, all is needed is right dimensions, nothing else: http://www.akasa.com.tw/update.php?tpl=produ...

Noo, case support for fanless stuff :'( RAM, USB, Power (USB 3.1), Faster MicroSD card reader upgrades still missing, maybe in 202x better luck. Maybe it's time for me to change back to x86, after all these years just keep disappointed with RPi. Not even worth to sell RPi 3, better just throw along ...
