Re: Getting started with a Pi music player

I think all the Pi's except Pi0 have an audio output jack. Some people add a hat to get higher quality audio. I use the VLC media player to play music on a Pi3B+. I have even used the $5 Pi0 to play music with VLC but had to listen to the speakers on the TV because I have only the HDMI output for au...

Depth of a liquid can be calculated if you know the size of the container and the pressure at the bottom of the container.

Re: SD card not formatting

I have an SD card to USB adapter that sometimes makes the SD card appear to be write protected. If i insert the same SD card into a SD card slot on a desktop computer I can write to it. That's maybe one thing to try.

I received this help a while back:

If it's formatted NTFS, you would need to install the ntfs-3g package on the Rpi.

Re: Raspberry Pi 3B+ WiFi Adapter

I have a usb wireless adapter connected to my Kubuntu desktop computer. When I do lsusb I see this on the list:

Ralink Technology, Corp. RT2070 Wireless Adapter

I see more of the neighbor's APs with that adapter than I do with my Rpi3B+ onboard wi-fi.

Re: wlan0 to eth0 bridge?

I finally got around to trying this on a Rpi3B+ with a fresh Buster install. The Pi is not issuing an ip address to another computer connected by ethernet cable. Either I made a mistake or I am missing something. Here are copies of some config files: /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf country=U...

Re: Updates not working? (SOLVED)

Thank you pcmanbob. I searched the forums for the command line method but did not find it. The command line method worked. I noticed a message: Repository "blah" changed its suite value from 'testing' to 'stable'. Think I had to enter y to accept that. Wondering was that was an issue the Add / Remov...

I got my Raspbian Stretch to update but not able to update Buster yet. I checked the clock before trying the update. Maybe the clock was not set on a previous attempt but I checked before trying again. Here is the message: E: http://raspbian.raspberrypi.org/raspbian buster/main armhf libssl-dev armh...

Updates not working?

Tried updating Raspbian on two different SD cards using the Add / Remove Software app. On both I got an error message saying the mirror was not yet ready. Is there a problem with updates or do I have a local problem?

Omxplayer GUI usage

I want to try using the Omxplayer GUI but have not been able to find out what its able to play or how to use it. When I click Help it says "no PDF program found to open the manual". Tried searching online before posting here but didn't find answers.

Re: Pi 4 + netbook or just get a pi-top?

I have a Gateway LT4010u netbook with 1 GB of ram and windows 7 starter installed. It has almost no free memory once windows boots so its not very usable. I shrank the windows partition and installed Debian Stretch with the Rpi desktop in the free space. Debian manages the memory much better than wi...

Re: microSD card size?

Thanks @W. H. Heydt. Then I can use my Pi3B+ to prep an SD card with dd. I won't need a computer with an Intel or AMD processor and etcher.

My music files are stored on 4 devices already but would not mind making a copy of the SD anyway.

Re: microSD card size?

I also am thinking about a 128 GB or 256 GB micro SD card for a Pi4 when I have money for the project. I want space for about 90 GB of mp3 music and space for some video files and would rather not have another storage device hanging off of the Pi. My local Walmart is selling 128 GB and 256 GB for ab...

Thanks @default_user8. I had forgotten to check Hauppauge for USB devices. They have linux support but think they cost more than a Pi4B. Oh well, I have to get my hands on a Pi4B first anyway. Re: wlan0 to eth0 bridge?

Thank you for your suggestion. I used nat years ago on a 486 box with a floppy drive and two nics. It ran a mini os from freesco.org on a floppy disk. I'll try your instructions on on a Pi3b+ soon.
