Re: Gertbot and potentiometer feedback

Thanks Gert, no probs!
That looks easier to tackle too.

Re: Gertbot and potentiometer feedback

I was thinking that I had to release the pins from their duties on Gertbot to make them directly available to RPi. However reading further I take it that is not the case, but I can't quite see how one would access the analogue in data.

Re: Serial inclinometer

Yes I see that's a good start, so it appears I'm looking for 0x55 followed by 0x53, then the 6th and 7th variables afterwards. Do you know what the "High" and "Low" aspects to the data are? Is that like most and least significant bits?
Thanks

Serial inclinometer

I have one of these inclinometer packages plugged into with its provided USB/serial adapter: https://www.amazon.co.uk/inclinometer-version-MPU6050-Accelerometer-Gyroscope/dp/B01N3R2YXZ/ref=sr_1_24?ie=UTF8&qid=1491834980&sr=8-24&keywords=inclinometer+sensor I have succeeded in printing the raw hex in...

Re: Gertbot and potentiometer feedback

Excellent, is this where the pins need to be reassigned for the Gertbot, or do some communicate directly to the RPi?

Re: Gertbot

Ah, I hadn't appreciated the need to update the software on the board itself!
So at present I don't have those sections, I'll go and try the update directly.
Thanks

Re: Gertbot

I never made a full real-time application with that command. I used the Gertbot GUI and pressed the 'read status' button very often and fast. I never saw any abnormal behavior. I see what you mean on the buttons, showing the high or low status on the pins, but I can't get a position value out (just...

Gertbot and potentiometer feedback

Hi
I've got a linear electric actuator that has a potentiometer output for position. Is it it possible to read an analogue input like that on on the I/O, so I can then use it for feedback?
Thanks

Re: Gertbot

Is it an absolute value? Reading one axis it appears to be reporting in decimal, and the zero position seems to float around. Also does the boad count every edge, or just every leading edge?

Re: Gertbot

Does quad_read return the current state of the square waves, or report the position, as the position is described as an ongoing total once the encodered are activated? How can I print the position to the screen (as the screen.addstr used in rover.py doesn't seem to like anything other than prose) Th...

Re: Gertbot

Hi Gert
I'd not spotted there was a newer version of the python drivers, I shall go and explore them!
Thanks for your guidance.

Re: Gertbot

Hi I'm trying to setup a two brushed motor/encoder system with Gertbot by adding encoder functions to the simple rover.py example. I think I have enabled the encoder but I can't work out how to read them. Also if I want to create a live report of a encoder feedback displayed in mm where can I create...
