Re: GPS pi4 incorrect date

Thanks Dougie but I'm pretty sure this isn't a roll over thing given the date is not a different amount out each day (every day the gps thinks is 30-01-2000). Also the gps dongle is only weeks old and the chrony and gpsd latest versions. Any other ideas? What do you see when you look up, do you see...

Looking at the archives the most likely raspbian release used in the video is stretch from 2018-04-18. https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian/images/raspbian-2018-04-19/ No, its 2019-11-13 version file on which my one of Pi board is running with the hotspot with this method. Most likely "Generic 104-key (PC)" + "English (US)" will solve your problem.
I can not test because I do not have that keyboard available to me.

Re: Error in make -j4

I am using the OS as raspbian buster and trying to configure opencv 3.1.0 and python 3. I am following the tutorial given in https://www.deciphertechnic.com/install-opencv-python-on-raspberry-pi/ The tutorial uses opencv 3.4.1, why are you using 3.1.0 ? I am getting errors when doing step 9, "make ...

It looks that DisplayLink can be used with Linux on ./arm* ./x86* and ./x64* by porting the Ubuntu driver. https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/679060-porting-the-displaylink-ubuntu-driver-to-other-lin I do not have any DisplayLink devices (anymore) so I can not test if the driver ...

Re: Raspberry Pi4 EEPROM update package - beta

The rpi-eeprom package has been moved from untested to stable so it can be installed with just apt update apt get rpi-eeprom Whilst the rescue image is still available for fixing corrupted EEPROMs the documentation (PR pending) will point users towards rpi-eeprom for feature upgrades / bug fixes. Re: allow hot-plug wlan0

It just seems to defy belief that a working kernel has been updated (bad use of the word) to the point that a working dongle that DID work: now when used to make an access point and a device connects causes a kernel panic and the machine locks up. AND that a brand name wifi dongle also doesn't work...

Pi4B. No problems with the full size HDMI versions, the micro size HDMI adapter works for some time before the screen goes black, re-plugging brings back the picture, iow not recommended. I suffered the same problem when I added a mico HDMI adaptor to my HDMI-DVD-i cable , but I found that by enabl...

Would be nice to see if you could use the stock thermal pads in combination with thermal paste, to see if that improves the heat transfer?
Do you understand the purpose of thermal paste ?

Re: Under-voltage warnings

Note that if the warning is being reported, you may be more susceptible to SD card corruption, random RAM corruption, USB communication failures etc. All of these may be happening right now but you may not be noticing them. Until one of them hits something critical. Then you will. Thanks, yes, I re...

Re: Raspberry pi 4, VGA adaptor

If you want VGA then look at one of the specialist pi shops for an HDMI to VGA adapter, personally I would recommend you get a HDMI to DVI-I cable. Just for information: I have 4 cheap HDMI to VGA adapters in use, two with full size HDMI plug for Raspberry, one with full size HDMI plug for my PC, a...

I suggest you remove power from your router to force a cold start.
This is not a buster problem, the problem is in your network.

Re: Why moving to 64bit?

How wide is the data bus between the processor and memory on the Pi 4B? Not wide enough to make a difference ;) At last someone answers this question from 2016. Yet, the answer is somewhat unsatisfying. Could the memory data bus use exactly 8 wires? If so, would that mean the Pi is morally equivale...

Re: Pi 3B+ core throttling at 2A?

I had set my arm_freq_min to 300Mhz, so it was running quite slow. It could have easily throttled down to 1,2Ghz instead. But yeah, I have a 3A charger , and don't experience the throttling on it. I just found it strange for the Pi to throttle down so low on a 2A charger , as there's not really a l...

Re: I cannot SSH my pi anymore

As you can see root is 6 GB in size, not 29 GB or so. This means the install of Raspbian did not go through (or you modified something) Recommend you reinstall. 1+ And I recommend that on first boot to wait at least 10 minutes before removing power to give raspbian time to finish initialisation.

However one particular remote Pi2 has been giving kernel upgrade problems several times lately, and after each failing upgrade I try to come up with additional checks to hopefully find the real cause of the problem.
Have you changed the memory card ?
