Re: Introducing PIXEL desktop: new Raspbian release

Thanks for responding.

But I don't see a Raspberry Pi Desktop download link on the Downloads page either.

Re: Introducing PIXEL desktop: new Raspbian release

Is PIXEL dead? The link referenced on the Introducing PIXEL page in "The Raspbian + PIXEL image is available from the Downloads page on our website" statement no longer shows a download for PIXEL.

Re: PIXEL OS /boot/loopback.cfg

firmware-brcm80211(0.43+rpi5) is already installed. Do you think replacing firmware-brcm80211(0.43+rpi5) with firmware-brcm80211 (0.43) is useful? Well, with the installed firmware I have no wlan0 access, with it I do, so yes it would appear to be useful. mark this thread as [SOLVED Yeah, it looks ...

Re: PIXEL OS /boot/loopback.cfg

Another question for you user1. Why doesn't this script work? #!/bin/sh # https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=169412&p=1088511#p1088511 sudo cp /media/pi/*/pixel/firmware*.deb /home/pi sudo dpkg -i /home/pi/firmware*.deb sudo modprobe -r brcmsmac ; sudo modprobe brcmsmac read exi...

Re: PIXEL OS /boot/loopback.cfg

Ah, thank you for sticking with me user1 . :) So, I downloaded debian-live-8.6.0-i386-lxde-desktop.initrd1.img and debian-live-8.6.0-i386-lxde-desktop.vmlinuz1 files even the debian-live-8.6.0-i386-lxde-desktop.initrd2.img and debian-live-8.6.0-i386-lxde-desktop.vmlinuz2 ones. I tried each pair with...

Re: PIXEL OS /boot/loopback.cfg

You are absolutely right user1. But the problem wasn't my fromiso parameter it was my findiso one. I had findiso=${isopath} but it needed to be simply findiso=$isopath :D So I have a wallpapered screen with icons on top and a mouse pointer that moves. Unfortunately the touchpad's tapping doesn't reg...

Re: PIXEL OS /boot/loopback.cfg

Well I tried booting the iso with the bootparms you showed user1 and I could see all the Linux commands as it booted, both the large text ones and the smaller ones but I still ended up with the: BusyBox v1.22.1 … Enter ‘help’ for commands /bin/sh: can’t access tty … (initramfs) unable to find a …. l...

Re: PIXEL OS /boot/loopback.cfg

Thank you user1 for getting back to me. Very good to know that the iso boots on your Ubuntu system. I will try it on my system again with the bootparms you show. On my system the grub2 menu calls a function named loopboot which finds the drive the iso is located on and sets root to it. Parts of it a...

Re: PIXEL OS /boot/loopback.cfg

A little more info. I changed the grub2 bootparms to be just: boot=live splash. Booting take me to the Pixel screen and after a minute if I press the Enter key I get a terminal screen showing typical Linux commands followed by: BusyBox v1.22.1 … Enter ‘help’ for commands /bin/sh: can’t access tty … ...

Re: PIXEL OS /boot/loopback.cfg

Thanks for getting back to me fruitoftheloom. Yes, that is what the blog states and I did put it on my grub2 bootable USB drive, which boots mostly Linux based ISOs. But in order to boot it I need to update my grub2 menu. I used what appears to be the grub2 boot file parms in the ISO but it doesn't ...

[Solved] PIXEL OS /boot/loopback.cfg

Hi. I downloaded the PIXEL OS iso file and am trying to boot it with grub2. In setting up the boot parameters I looked at the /boot/loopback.cfg file. I copied them verbatim but booting failed. In actually looking at the parms there are many repeated over and over, boot=live for example. This is wha...
