Re: where to put .jar?

It's an environment variable so you could set it in ~/.bashrc or ~/.profile If your jars are in a folder called ~/jar then stick that line at the bottom of ~/.profile CLASSPATH="$HOME/jar:$CLASSPATH" Using a global classpath variable is a bad idea in general. better define one as an argument (-clas...

Re: python time.sleep(x) in java

Please don't give me the attitude. I did google it, I read the same post. but My little understanding is Thread.sleep() has something to do with a thread.. I am wondering if it can be applied to general purpose like time.sleep() in python. I am not a genius like you. Java is brand new to me. The sl...

LXDE problem?

Greetings, I have a PI 3B, together with a 7" screen running Stretch (in a default configuration); for months everything ran fine until suddenly the desktop panel was moved downwards and to the right for +/- 100 pixels; I managed to correct the problem by using a 'Panel Settings' dialog; I popped it...

A couple of days ago I reinstalled Stretch again from scratch (version 29/11/2017) and my pi/3 runs fine ever since ... the previous installation crashed from within minutes until a couple of hours. Of course I'm happy now, but I didn't do anything different for those two installations:select the ne...

Re: Raspberry Pi builtin WiFi keeps crashing

What surprises me is that not many more people suffer from this bad wireless firmwsre/driver. I'd expected that these forums would be flooded ... was there a stretch distribution that didn't suffer from this problem? My old Jessie runs ok, and my (out of the box) Stretch distribution crashes multipl...

Re: Raspberry Pi builtin WiFi keeps crashing

Enabling TKIP contradicts what James(h) wrote: disable TKIP. I agree that TKIP is not very secure though ... TKIP encryption is officially obsolete (as WEP encryption is).

Generally, only bug fixes go into the driver, but its also possible a fix for one thing has exposed another pro...

Re: Raspberry Pi builtin WiFi keeps crashing

Is there any progression yet, w.r.t. those Cypress/Broadcom drivers? I depend on a (more or less) reliable wifi, i.e. one of my pi/3s runs a mqtt broker so I can control some devices in my house (I'm disabled, I can't walk); as it is now, the entire configuration is completely unusable. What surpris...

wifi drops dead after a few hours

Greetings, The topic title says is all; I have a brand new pi/3 and it's up and running (using Stretch); the pi just sits there, completely idle; after a few hours, the wifi drops dead. I hooked up a display, and noticed that the os was still running. I guessed that the power management had decided ...

Re: Not seeing ctrl-Z

I bet putty itself runs on a MS Windows box which interprets ctrl-Z as an end-of-stream event. On a local terminal (which happens to run on Linux), the same event can be generated by pressing ctrl-D.

Re: Missing content from the downloaded FreeTTS package

No need to correct anything; BSD only licenses its stuff under its BCL licence (BInary Code Licence); you have to extract/unpack the jsapi.jar code yourself by running the jsapi.sh archive in the lib directory. Also see the second paragraph of this link: https://freetts.sourceforge.io/docs/jsapi_set...
